In the gospel according to
Saint Mark, Chapter 9 we
'thfoll

have the story of a father br-
inging. his very sick son to
the disciples of Jesus Christ
seeking help. In verse -18 we
• find out -that the disciples
were unable to help.hien. We
have discipleship failure.
The man said, "I spoke to
your disciples and asked
them to drive out the spirit,
but they could not."
People expect great things
from those who belong to
Christ, ariid so they should:
Paul said in Philippians 4:13
that he • could do all things
through -Christ. Peter and
John in Acts 3:4 said to the
lame man, "Look on Us."

Local Baha'is cable U.N.
to investigate murders
In response to a wave of
murders of Baha'is in Iran
recently. the Local' Spiritual
Assembly • of the Baha'is of
Goderich 'and Colborne
Townships cabled United
Nations Secretary Dr. Kurt
Waldheim asking the U.N. to
investigate the plight of
Baha'is in that country.
The townships' cable is
one .of hundreds being
simultaneously sent to Mr.
Waldheim from assemblies
all over the world.
The massive request is
made on behalf of Baha'is in
Iran being persecuted, ar-
rested and murdered on
trumped up charges levelled
by fanatic followers . of
Ayatollah Khomeini.
As recent as June 14, seven
Baha'is were executed with
the approval of Iran's
Supreme Judicial Council.
The seven' were found guilty
of charges not elaborated on
by the Council and were ex-
ecuted after being tortured.
Several more prominent
Baha'is now are imprisoned
for no, apparent reason and
await similar fate in efforts
to induce other members of
the Iranian Baha'i communi-
ty to recant their faith.
The persecutions have
continued unabated in Iran
despite, efforts by other
Baha'is in many lands. For
two years the international -
Baha'i community has 5. at-
tempted to bring the plight of
the Iranian Baha'is to the
attention of Ayatollah Kho-
meini, and fair minded coun-
tries ° and organizations
throughout the world.
The killings and tortures of
Baha'is are part of a
•
systematic plan of fanatical
elements in Iran to eradicate
the faith in Iran, the land of
its birth.
The Baha'is are executed
on false charges but the real
reason is their membership
in the Baha'i Faith, a law
abiding, .non political non
violent religion worshipped

.in over 350 coup "toes in the
world. In Iran the Baha'i
Faith is the largest religious
minority in the country.
Baha'u'llah, the founder of
Baha'i, declared he was the
promised one of all religions
when he declared his mis-
sion in 1863.
His teachings basically
revolve around the oneness
of God, the oneness of
mankind and that all
religions are one.
Baha'u'llah himself was im-
prisoned more than 30 years
after he declared his mission
but still managed to spread
his message so that today it
is followed by hundreds of
thousands of people in over
350 countries from every
type of social, economic and
religious background.
I mention this because I
feel that many do not ap-
proach the church because
they feel that it has nothing ,
to offer them. They, of
course, are not then familiar
with the healing power of
God that sincere prayer can
bring forth. .
Fortutely the man with
the sick son did not give up

made his request known to

If followers of Christ have
disappointed you, then why
not try the master Himself.
Do not use such an ex-
perience' as an excuse to
neglect the worship of your
Lord.
God is, not without power
today. He loves every single
person created and deeply
desires, to be their compa-
nion and helper. The' Bible
tells us that if we
acknowledge him in all our
ways that he will direct our
lives (Proverbs 3:6). Many
people however do not know
God nor do they know His
Son Jesus Christ as their per-
sonal saviour. The Bible is
very clear that only those
who receive Him as such
shall be saved and know
eternal life. All others shall
perish.
A naturalist was observing
an emperor moth as it tried
desperately to release itself
from its cocoon. He noted
that it was having great dif-
ficulty getting through the
narrow neck of its prison -
like covering. Thinking he
would make it easier for the
insect, he cut a slit down one
side of the pupa case with his
knife. , Immediately the
