R . was called down to
Mr. bmith's office last
Tuesday, the immediate
thoughts that ran through
my head were, "Oh no, what
have I done now?".
In a matter of seconds my
whole view of the situation
changed from total per-
plexity to utter amazement,
and from that point on it
slowly changed to complete
frustration because I was
faced with the question,
"What will I say? ".
So after much hard
thinking, worry and
frustration, I stand here
0 before you, with my knees
knocking and with the
responsibility of trying my
best to express the feelings
of these grade 8 students as
well as my own.
A valedictorian speaker
has three main tasks to fulfil.
They are to show gratitude,
to say farewell, and to help
his fellow graduates that a
great future can be theirs.
SO...HERE GOES.
How can we show in words
the proper amount of ap-
preciation due to those who
helped to this time,, in our
lives? Really there isn't, but
let's give it our best shot
anyway. Any successful
school has to have a warm
and caring principal, who is
personally involved with the
students, and I feel that is a
perfect description of our
principal, Mr. Smith. It is
also impossible to run a
school without, teachers,so
thank -you to the ones m the
past who had a part in our
educational development, a
special thank you to the
grade 8 rotary teachers, and
a very special thank you to
our grade 8 homeroom
teachers, Mr. Bogie, Mr.
Leggatt and Mr. Moore.
Appreciative words need
to be expressed to the
Religious Education
ministers who attempted to
guide us in our awareness of
who God is and what he can
do in our lives.
I hope that you're not
getting tired of my saying,
`Thank You' because I'm not
finished yet.
Thanks also to the
custodians, to the school
secretary, to Mrs. Cass our
librarian, who have helped
us in many ways, to Mr.
Scott our guidance coun-
sellor, to Mr. Cameron the
instrumental teacher and to
our French teacher, Marci
Beaucoup.
Now last, but not least, our
own parents, who, in most
cases, loved and put up with
us through thick and thin.
At this time, we come to
our farewell, which in
reality; is a good-bye to our
childhood.
It is also a farewell to our
public school days that
absorbed a large portion of
our young lives.
Those days are gone now;
a new day is -dawning for all
us who are grade 8
graduates.
We can have a great future
if we do as the poet Robert
Frost suggests in his famous
poem, 'The Road Not
Taken'.
Two roads diverged in a
wood, and I-
I TOOK THE ONE LESS
TRAVELLED BY,
And that has made all the
difference.
There is an easy road
through life; there is also a
road that not man y"travel on.
The easy road is mainly a
road of popularity and
pleasure, the other is a road
of peace and purpose.
My prayer tonight for you
and me is that we will letGod
guide us on the right road.
,WELCOME TO A GREAT
FUTURE!
Warmest Congratulations and
Best Wishes for the Future
