Renovations
to begin soon,
Renovations to town hall could begin in July after
council accepted a tender from Bratt° Construction\
Co. Ltd. of Hyde Park for $159,968.
Initially council had received five bids on the
renovation work, but all five contractors were.asked
for new quotes on the project. Only, four of the.com-
panies responded with new tenders and Brad,. who
submitted the low bid On the original -tender, was
again selected.
• The other bids included; the .Cobrell Company,
London, $166,721; J. Nicholson Building 'and Con-
struction, Stratford, $173,400 and Frank Van Bussel
and Sons, Lucan, $186,943.
Originally council had budgeted '$132,000 for the
project. The tender price does not include the ar-
chitectural fees of Hill and Bo rgal..

Agreement.TeaChed
The 1-furon County Board of. Education announced
Wednesday. that it reached an agreement withits
elementary teachers for the September 1, 1981 to
August 31,1982 contract year. . •
• Details of the agreement will not be released until
September when the teachers have taken -a
ratification vote The two sides held four meetings '
prior to reaching an agreement Wednesday. • •
Whileone contract is out of the way, the board will .
be negotiating with its secondary schoolteachers on a .
new contract. At a joint request of the teachers and
the board, the Education Relations Commission has
appointed Professor Jeffrey Gandz as mediator.
Gandz is on the faculty of, the School of Business
Administration, University of . Western Ontario,
London where he teaches courses in management
behaviourand industriakelations.
He has assisted the trustees and teachers of the •
Essex County Board of Education and the Haldimand
Board of Education. In November 1980 he was ap-
pointal by the Education Relations. Commission to
assist with contract negotiations m Huron County
between the board and its secondary school teachers..,
participated in a bowl-a-thon June 11 and raised ap-
proximately $518 which will be used by the Goderich and
District Association for the. Mentally Retarded toward
transportation costs for the nursery school. (Photo by

Display promotes
During the week of June
15th to June 20th, the
Goderich Tourist Committee
conducted a promotional
display at the Ontario Travel
Information Centre located
in Toronto's Eaton Centre.
Tourist Committee Chair-
man, Doug Bundy, and com-
mittee memberMac Camp-
bell arranged for and
organized the week-long
event.
The . display which was
aimed at generating interest
in the Port of Goderich as 'a. •
vacation area, .was well
received by over 3,000
visitors, someof whom sign-
ed up on a free draw for a.
weekend. for two ' in
Goderich.. The draw winners
included a family from
Holland, Ohio, a lady from
Toronto and a• man from
North.york.- We expect these
people to be visiting us in the
near future to take advan-
tage of their weekend of free
accommodation, meals and
visits to our musetun, gaol
and other places of interest.
The display featured ar-
tifacts from the Huron Coun-
ty Museum,. a live rope=
making ' demonstration,
• photographs of the low% a
video recording of 'the
touriSm. and, industrial at-
tractions as well. as packag- .r?
ed brochores. •
The booth was manned by
a 'staff of, four very capable.

shall and Larry Adams pro-
vided the background about
the Museum while Jane
Smith and Cam Maguire
helped to introduce visitors
to the attractions of the
town.
' Representatives from the
Goderich Town Council paid
a visit to the display on the
Thursday and were quite im-
pressed with the profes-
sionalism exhibit* by the
students manning the booth.
Mayor Harry Worsen, Coun-
cillors John Doherty and
Elsa Haydon and. Town
Clerk Larry McCabe were
the members who came
down. Mrs. Ilaydon,who is
also a member of the Tourist
Committee, stayed for an ex-
tra day to assist thestudents
at the hcioth.
As a result, of the efforts of
all those who Participated,.
many new contacts were
made with potential visitors
to our comnlunity. "It • was
surprising at first," said
Cam Maguire, "how many
peOple -didn't even know
where Goderich was lorAtid.
New there area lot of people
who do and•inahy of these, I
.expect, will become poten-
tial tourists to our area. The

Cecil (Moon) Adams of
R.R. 6 Goderich died in
Alexandra Marine and
General Hospital on Wed-
nesday, June 24 at the age of
69. •
He wasborn in Seaforth on .
April 10, 1912 to Frederick
and Kathleen (Baker)
Adams.
-He was the superVisor of
the Goderich Ambulance
SerVice until his retirement
•
in 1977. • •
During World War II, he
served in the R.C.N.V.R. and
he was a member of Royal
Canadian Legion Branch 109.
He was also a member of
Knox Presbyterian Church,
Coderich.
He is survived by his wife,
the former Mona McGregor;
one daughter, Mrs. Robert
(Trudy) • Stabbings of
Goderich; one brother, Ken
of Simcoe; and three
grands,ons.
Ile was predeceased by
one sister and one brother.
A funeral service was held
at McCallum -Funeral Home
on Saturday, June 27 at 1
p.m. The Reverend G.L.
Royal officiated.
Interment was in
Egmondville Cemetery at
Egmondville.
Pallbearers were Ken
Adams, Brian McGregor,
John Flannery, Ray Barker,,
Bill Clements and John
Talbot.
Members of the Goderich
Ambulance Service formed a
guard of honor.
Royal Canadian Legion
Branch 109 held a memorial
service Friday evening,

John—George Proctor of
Sunset Beach died Friday,
June 26 in Victoria Hospital,
London at the age of 48.
• He was born in Zurich on
August 15, 1932 to Alvin and
Elsie (Morgan) Proctor.
Helived most'of his life in
Goderich and area and
worked 'as „a machinist at
Champion Roads
Machinery.
He was a member of, the
Free Methodist Church:
- On March 30, 1957 he
married Norina Ann Red-
ford in Goderich. She sur-
vives him.
Also surviving are four
daughters, Mrs. Robert
