Dykehoppers
will join the Feest
The Dykehoppers are a
Mardi-gras or Carnaval
Society, founded in April 13,
1966 as a subsidiary of the
Dutch Canadian Society of
London and District. This
was founded a few years
earlier and has its very own
beautiful clubhouse at 1738
Gore Road in London,
Ontario.
The Dykehoppers are
dedicated to the promotion of
the happy side of Dutch iife:
thei ing of friends . and
strangers alike at the annual
Cavalcade during Sep-
tember, the show antics and
fun of Carnaval between
November and Ash Wed-
nesday or the wooden shoe.
dancing at the well known
party nights. The Dutch
polonaise or grand march is
a tradition they have in-
troduced for every event
they put on
In addition to making fun
and entertaining thousands
of others in Sarnia, Windsor,
Pickering, Hamilton,.
Ottawa, Kitchener, Guelph,
Arkona and Woodstock, they
maintain the Dutch folklore,
culture and traditions, and
' also introduce these to
"Canadian" audiences.
Recently they organized a
Benefit night for the Royal
Canadian Legion Victory
Branch Concert Band. A few
weeks later they entertained
the war veterans and in-
valids at" westminister
Hospital.
In Toronto they put on a
Dutch night in observance'of
the 35th anniversary of the
Liberation of Holland by
Canadian Troops. They also
succeeded in getting several
thousand bouquets of flowers
donated by the United
Cooperative Flowergrowers
of Aalsmeer, Holland,
