„ Just a paid holiday
at public's expense
Dear Editor,
On the May 4 council agen-
da there was a . letter from
Bay City to the ,mayor of
- Goderich. They are opening
a work! friendship shell and
have extended an invitation
to the mayor to give his per-
sonal comments on behalf of
poderich. 'At council a mo,
tion was passed that anyone
wishing to attend, contact
the towel,,cleek and he would
make the necessary ar-
rangements. I would assume
by the text of the motion that
this would include any tax-
payer in Goderich wishing to
Fam . •
go.
I understand that the town
will pay for the expense of
the mayor, council members
and certain administrative
staff. To me, this is nothing
more than a paid holiday at
the' taxpayers' expense. I
would like to know how
many would attend at their
own expense. As a member
'of council I feel that the
mayor and his wife should be
the only persons to attend at
the expense of the tax-
payers.
Respectft.illy yours,
Jim Searls.
