Friday night for their colleagues to show up, that council business might commence, and then gave up in disgust and went home. Mr. Jonathan Miller of the East Street livery, who has been in poor health for some time, has soldout his interest in that business to Mr. L B. Augustine who will conduct the business with Mr. Walker. . 25 YEARS AGO With the official opening scheduled for Tuesday, May 29, work on the new Huron County Court House is being rushed to completion. County employees expect to move into their new quarters on May 17; 18 and 19. Work started Monday on the laying of the hard top on the Goderich-Clinton high- way. This occasion will mark the close association that continues . even today between Canadian ser- vicemen, the Royal Cana- dian Legion and the Dutch Canadian citizenswho lived in Holland during World War 1T. The festivities will com- .rate liberation mence at 7:30 p.m. on May 8 with a brief ceremony at the cenotaph in Court House ' park. At this time, represen- tatives of both the Dutch Canadian community and Legion Branch 109 will place wreaths in memoryof those who died in the liberation of Holland. Interested person- nel are requested to assem- ble at the cenotaph by 7:30 p.m. Following the wreath lay- ing ceremony, Legionnaires and Dutch Canadians will adjourn to the Jubilee Room of Branch 109 for an evening of entertainment, fellowship and Dutch style lunch. This celebration will be of particular interest to those Legionnaires who served in Holland.during World War II but all Legion members are welcome.
