The bride's 'mother greeted guests wearing a tourquoise and powder blue BY THE REVEREND JOHN D. M. WOOD, VIIMORIA STREET UNITED CHURCH "Christ is like a single body which has many parts; it is still one body even though it is made up of dif- ferent parts. In the same way, all of us, whether Jews or Gentiles, whether slaves or free, have been baptized into the one body by the same Spirit, and we have all been given the one Spirit to drink" T -Cori>dthrans "12: 12,13) But many people dol not ac- cept what is self-evident, often preferring to restrict the body of Christ, and Paving as if the body of Christ were divisible into segments, unrelated to one another. And such divisions are made on the grounds of class, na- tionality, race or creed. In its extreme form, this kind of thinking leads to practices Such as apartheid in South Africa or segregation 'in North America. Channing Tobias writes: "If you discriminate ,against me 1 am dirty, I can make myself ,clean.. If you discriminate against me because I am bad, I can reform and, be good. If you ° discriminate against me because I am ig- norant, I can learn. If you discriminate against me because I am ill- mannered, I can improve my manners. But if you discriminate against me because of my colour, you ' discriminate against me because of something God Himself gave me and over which I have no control." On , Tuesday afternoon, many residents. of - Huron - view were guests of the Clin- ton and District Christian School, where the students presented their . version of "The Jungle Book" based :. upon the novel by Rudyard Kipling. Frank Bissett, who is no stranger to live theatre, said; "-'this .was a delightfulv.. musical production and the opening number was veryef- fective as the `characters of the jungle' led by the `elephants' down -the aisle to the stage, I expected to see the hind .. end of the `elephants' perhaps -miss a step - on the stairs but no way! I personally saw a flawless performance. .For the number of monkeys, lions; tigers, vultures and of course the `elephants' and other characters all on the stage at one time, the movements were=- handled beautifully. . Q "The staging was splendid and very creative. The set and scene changes were col- orful and artistic and I liked the feeling brought about by the flashing lights. I was im- pressed with the fine or- chestra and direction. The music had a popular toe - tapping rhythm and the lyrics cute -and appropriate. The entire cast seemed to bubble with enthusiasm and at no time expressed the lack of it. THE NEW MINIMUM WAGE RATES IN ONTARIO New fylinimum Wage rates will go into effect March 318t, 1981. Clarence Bos and learned that many hardworking hours and patience went into 'the designing and making the lovely costumes, all so much in detail and character. It would be dif; ficult to judge anyone part as better than another. They were all cleverly played and showed much talent. The scene with Mougii and the snakes - so realistic and art- fully rtfully done - I had to mention again' there is great talent here at the school. "While this production is a first attempt by the school, let us hope it is only the .. beginning of many --future performances. On behalf of -the-resident_s and-attendaitss. many thanks for inviting us to your successful rehearsal., The tremendous ,effort displayed by teachers, direc- tors; musicians, wonderful pupils and everyone who played such important roles on stage and behind the scenes, . is , highly coalmen- dable. It was an enjoyable afternoon." Sympathy is expressed to the families of Della Clark, Wilson Britnell, and Kenneth Skillen. Think of Ar- chbishop Romero sof El Salvador, murdered his church duffing a servic,_, and of the three nuns and a social worker also slain there; think of the black Lutheran evangelist taken from his church in Angola and murdered by South African soldiers; and remember Nelson Mandela, a leader of the African National Con- gress, who has been in prison for 18 years on Robben Island, held there by the pre- sent government of South Africa. We now add a third text, "If one part of the body suf- fers, all the other parts suf- fer with it" (I Cor. 12:26) In Lent 1981, let us resolve with God's help so to live that Christ's body may not be broken afresh by us. His body is like a single body, though made up of different parts. - MONUMENTS - MARKERS - CEMETERY LETTERING MONUMENT CLEANING & REPAIR DON DENOMME AREA REPRESENTATIVE FOR AN APPOINTMENT ANYTIME PInor7iiei 544-682i PRYDE MONUMENTS BUSINESS EST. 1920 Whai you're a florist, good forms fmrn Ask She fills out the UI Record of Employment perfectly every time. an employee parts company.
