Goderich lost their first game but rebounded with a win over Listowel
Sexes will battle on the rink
The four ladies! curling
teams at the Maitland were
early entries into the ex-
citing 'Battle of the Sexes'
bonspiel to be held March 29.
This strong showing so un-
nerved the "weaker sex"
that theladies had, trouble
persuading the men to take*
up the challenge. •1
However, four men's
teams have now entered.
And it looks like there will be
an afternoon of good curling.
The Eager Beaver ladies'
team skipped by Elaine
Bois is ready to show the
seasoned curlers that vim,
vigor and vitality can offset
the advantages of ex-
perience. Elaine's team of
Joanne Hood, Joanne
McKeown and Cathy Morris
hope to pull -off the upset 'of
the day. .
The Maitland Lady
Golfers have ben planning
all year for this great event.
Skip Sue White claims it has
been diffitult but they have
succeeded in holding back
with their terrific talent in
the Industrial League. Her
team of Kay Duncan, Penny
Peters and Lynn Todgham
will unleash their talent in
this event.
Eleanor Erskine has a
team really sweeping up a
storm. Being the great lady
that she is; Eleanor let the
men win on the very last
rock last year. But no more
favours guys. Eleanor has
heard about women's libera-
tion. Eleanor's high powered
team consists of Kay King,
Faye Ribey and Nancy
MacKinnon.
But the team that has the
men really shaking in their
boots is the GDCI girls'
team. These Cracker Jil
curlers are good- and have
continually proved it all this
year. Skip Melanie Dustow,
vice Diane Bogie, second An-
drea DeWinter and lead Ann
Duncan plan to show that
"anything anyone else does,
they can do better".
The club champions are
back to defend their title this
year. Roger Bois, feeling
very confident, was the first
man to enter a team. He is
hoping to curl against his
wife Elaine and maybe, just
maybe, he will get the last
rock. But not the last word,
Roger. His team consists of
Charlie Crawford, Dennis
Miskie and Barry Page.
The second men's team to
enter was Jim Collins, Scott
A
Collins and Fraser Huyck.
After some needling, a
third team entered, Skip
• Mile McKeown collected a
team'with strong determina-
tion. Like Elaine's team they
believe that experience isn't
everything. . Mike's ,team
consists of Glen Carey,
Terry Worsell and Jim Mor-
ris. '
As the .GDCI girls have
entered a team the GDCI*
,,boys will not be outdone.
These boys have great team
spirit and can curl well too.
team members are Mike Pa-
quette, Del Mitchehnore,
Steve •Taraba and Lou
DeWinter.
Minor ,

in the arena.

munity who want to coach
•hockey next year, should
also put their names forward
at this time.
