Seaforth school
enrollment up
SEAFORTH - Contrary to
reports in other secondary
schools, Seaforth District
High School (SDHS) is
seeing an increase in
enrollment, nota decline.
SDHS principal Bruce
Shaw reported that 363
students enrolled in Sep-
tember, there are 367
students attending today and
there will likely be 370
students next fall.
However, while SDHS isn't
experiencing the declining
enrollment problems of
other schools, two Grade 13
courgeo, History 550 and
French 550 will be dropped.
Mr. Shaw said the courses
have been discontinued
because an insufficient
number of students were
interested in taking them. He
pointed out however that
while there are 121 courses
offered at the school;, this
year, next year there will be
128 available to students.
Mr. Shaw said that
discontinuing the two grade
13 courses shouldn't affect
anyone's university
enrollment, since students
are accepted if they have the
Grade 13 English
requirement and they don't
need a second language for
most programs.
