She will' be married to perry Teichert, son of Mr. and • Mrs. Karl Teichert of Albert. Street,. Goderich in an even - lag wedding this Saturday, March 7 at Benmiller United Church. .Betty, who worksin Toron- to, has been a very busy young lady dining the month of February.,Besides holding her job, she has travelled for several bridal showers in her _bainturteldsluring_themon7 th. The weather at tines wasn't the best either. A community shower was, held in Benmiller United Chiirep which twinged friends, neighbours and relatives. An e' aunt, Mrs. Doug Sowerby of Goderich and her daughter Julie held a miscellaneous shower. Another aunt, Mrs. Lytu Rumig and, cousin, Doris Patterson and aunt Mrs. Wayne (Donna) Snyder also held a miscellaneous shower. Colborne 'Township Recreation Committee is having a meeting in Col- borne Township Hall on Mondatlarch 9 'at 8 p.m. There are several important items of business to be Of 'special concern is get- ting someone to manage the softball games for boys and' girls this summer.. Mr. and Mrs. Dan Willis filled in last year in this capacity but this is 1981 and the Recreation Committee is trying to find someone else who will volunteer to take on this job. True, it isn't easy. It takes time and effort but surely there is someone who maybe has children who want to play softball, or someone who is willing to help in this worthwhile sport. • This is a sport the boys and girls are keenly interested in but unless there are volunteers to help, there is the possibility that this sport Will have to be cancelled in Colborne Township this sum- mer. Give this • some thought and plan to come to the meeting March 9. Wornen's_In, stitute members met in Col- borne Township Hall on Thursday, February 26 for their first meeting of the New Year. The president, Mrs. R. Buchanan opened •the meeting with a poem, "New Year's Meditation" and welcomed the members and visitors, who thenjOined in the Opening Ode, Mary Stewart Collect and 0 Canada, with Mrs. G. Keit- ting at the piano. Minutes of • the last meeting were read by the secretary, Mrs. A. Stoll and the roll call, "Suggestions to save -energy- iirthe home" found many interesting sug- gestions. Some of,- these were: when using the elec- tric oven plan to cook more than one item; first thing in the morning, air your home as fresh air warms -faster; use wood -burning stoves; use a humidifier; disconnect your color TV when not in use, etc. Correspondence was read and attended to and business - arising from same was given specialattention. The annual letter from FWIOpresident Mrs. Keith Hiepleh was received and was very infor- mative. A letter was read • from the Home Economics - Branch of. the Ministry of Agriculture and Food regar- ding the Food Forum for the "Parties to- Please your PuiseCourae. • • ' A . letter' and information •, regarding • officers' con- ference in Waterloo on May . 5,6 and 7 was, received. A let- • ter • was also received from Erland Lee Home informing members that the . home is open for guests .and that the week of June 1, to 5 will be special with a demonstration and •display, of special pioneer crafts. The letter suggested Institutes plan bus trips this year to visit the Erland Lee Horne,especial- ly during this special week. A thank you was received from the Salvation Army. A letter from the Cancer Socie- ty regarding the drive in the spring was received. A letter regarding Cana- dian Crossroads Interna- tional advising Members of the plans and aspirations of • one of its Colborne Township young men received favourable comment and at- tention. The topic on resolutions was in the charge of Mrs. G. Kaitting 'and Mrs. Emerson - Elliott and was partly in the form of an interesting ques- tion- and answer period 'which brought forward many suggestions and con- siderable discussion on such topics as food dyes, bull fighting and dog fighting and the Airport Road corner. •One-stigge-ction for this cor, ner was a blinker light or to place an effective slowdown sign on Highway 21 for traf- fic going , south toward Goderich. The Institute made plans to look into several of the suggestions to see what can.be done for the benefit of the public. The next Meeting will be Thursday2 March 26 at which time -Mrs. Hendrick will give a demonstration on making hairpin lace and Mrs. G. Kaitting will demonstrate covering dress hangers, besides other special items on the program. The meeting cloSed with The Queen and The Grace, •.after which all enjoyed a social half hour with lunch served by the committee of Mrs. E. Elliott, Mrs. A. Stoll, Mrs. R. Buchanan and Mrs. G. Mrs. Catherine Riehl of Goderigli, formerly of Col- borne, has returned home after spending six weeks visiting some of her family ton, New Brunswick. Mrs. Earl Sherwood and Mrs. Doug McNeil attended the flower show at the Ex- hibition Grounds in Toronto on Friday, February 27. Unit 2 at Bruce A Generating Station took the top spot moving up from 36th place in 1979. • Unit 3 at the Pickering A Generating Station placed second. Bruce Unit 3 took the third spot while Bruce Unit 1 ranked fourth. , • the remaining •791 - megawatt reactor at Bruce A Generating Station ranked 19th. • •• Pickering's three other 50 -megawatt units ranked lower in 1980 than in 1979. Units 1, 2 and 4 ranked 24th, 11th and 13th respecitvely.
