Oldtimers Tourney big hit with the visitors
There was plenty of action at the Oldtimers Tournament
here on the weekend as evidenced by the photos. In the top
left picture a London forward performs a ballet move in a
championship game against Hanover and right, a London
oldtimer is foiled by the Windsor Hadley goaltender. In the
bottom photo, Dave Wilkinson of Goderich looks for a
rebound m a game against Utica, Michigan. Goderich lost
that game in a shootout. (photos by Dave Sykes)

If success can be
measured by good times,
then -the second annual in-
vitational Oldtimers
Tournament held at the
-arena last weekend was a
smash hit. A tournament
organizer, Bob Cornish, said
that—players from all 12
-teams-that competed made it
clear they thoroughly en-
joyed themselves and feel
that the Goderich tourney is
one of the.best going.
Teams played in three
divisions for gold, silver, and
bronze medals as well as for
the Fair Play trophy and
player awards.
Mt. Brydges won the gold
in the Signal -Star division,
beating out - silver medal
winners Zurich by a score of
2-0. Mt. Brydges goalie D.
Reycraft •won the Most
Valuable Player award for
the game. Bronze medal in
that division went to Fraser,
Michigan.
In the Lakeport Division,
the., London Old Indians
defeated Windsor Hadleys 5-
3 to take home the gold.
London's Art Paquette
scored four of the five goals
to win the MVP award. Utica
Michigan won the bronze
medal.
The London Oldtimers
took top honors in the Hotel
Bedford division. They
shutout Hanover Oldtimers
2-0 in the championship

The Goderich Oldtimers
' Tournament hosts did not
fare so well in their three
Lakeport division matches.
Only two ties occurred in
the tournament and the local
team ended up on the losing
side of both games, which
were determined by shoot -
.
hoot. outs at each team's goalies.
In their Friday night.game
against Utica, the score was
tied at five at the end .of the
• game. In the shoot-out, Utica
managed to net two of' their
five shots while Goderich
didn't get any......
On .Saturday afternoon,
their r opponents were the
Windsor team and the two
battled to a 3-3 draw. Again,
Goderich couldn't notch any
of the shoot-out op-
portunities. Windsor scored
one to win the game 4-3.
The London Old Indians,
whit. .were the eventual
Lakeport division gold
medal winners, had an
easier time beating the
Goderich Oldtimers. The
final score was 3-1. •
