Installation of new race moniters a

passes big bettors
'Jim Bisset will not return this year as
manager of Goderich R'ecetrack.
Bisset sells real estate for Wilfred
Mclntee and Company of Goderich and said
the summer is the busiest season for Real
Estate and he does not have the time to ad-
nminister the racetrack.
Anyone interested in the position should
contact the Racing Association in Goderich.
Bisset, who managed the track for one year,
describes an ideal applicant as one who is
semi -retired, has some spare time, is in-
terested in racing and has a background in
business. The business background is im-
portant he said, because the manager deals
with large sums of money.
Racing in Goderich is every Thursday
night for 11 weeks from June 2.5 to Sept. 1.
Racetrack Manager is a paid position said
Bisset and the pay depends on experience
and ability. However, it also depends on
how well the manager promotes • racing. It
not just a case of managing the racetrack it
is also promotion, he said.
The track should be easier to promote this
year with the installation of colour TV
moniters in the grandstand and in the bar.
Goderich was the only track in the area
that did not have race moniters or race
replay capabilities. The race is video-taped
from a camera in the judges stand and

service..
The purchase of the monitors is part of a
three year plan that included a new com-
puterized tote board, installed' last year.
The tote board replaced the old by -hand
method of -calculating odds and winnings.
The old way of figuring the odds was not as
fast or accurate, he said.
' Funding was provided by the racetrack "
assistance program of the Ontario Govern-
ment and the Ontario Racing Commission. '
The program injected $25 million into the
racing industry to stimulate new fan in-
