The Goderich Signal-Star, 1987-05-06, Page 23SEMZESISSEMS Born in Port Colborne on July 10, 1930, she was the daughterof the late Gustav Bain and the former Sophie Brinkman. She was a clerical worker at Sunbeam Shoes Ltd. 35 years. She'was also a member of North Street United Church. Surviving are one daughter, Jackie and her husband Bob Carver of Goderich; brothers, Fred Bain and Herman Bain; sisters, Elsie Stecjuk, Emma Bertin and Margaret Sabo all of Port Colborne; grand- children, Shelley, Shawn and Craig. Step- brothers and step -sisters also survive. She was predeceased by a brother Arthur Bain and sisters Irene Bannerman and Pat- sy Bain. The funeral service was held at the Mc- Callum and Palla Funeral Home on Thurs- day, April 30 with Rev. Robert Ball of North Street United Church officiating. Soloist was Ron Speer. Pallbearers were Bob Bannerman, Rob Bannerman, Mike Carver, Don Bain, Lawrence Bertin and Phillip Sabo. Inter- ment in Maitland Cemetery. MRS. M.C. COSTELLO Mary Madeline ( O'Leary ). Costello passed away suddenly •at Manatee . Memorial Hospital in Bradenton, Florida on Tuesday, April 14, 1987 at the age of 67. She was the beloved wife of Michael C. Costello, former-' ly of London and well-known in the Kingsbridge-Goderich area: The couple was looking forward to returning to their summer place at Stokes Bay after, spending .49922152019. PAGE 24-GODERICH SIGNAUSTAR, WEDNESDAY, MAY 6, 1987 God rich resid LEWIS TAYLOR • Lewis Taylor, a resident of Maitland Manor Nursing Home, died at the home on Thursday, April 30 at the age of 97. Born in Bolton, England, on July 12, 1889, he was the son of the late William Hamilton Taylor and his wife Henrietta. Nr. Taylor was transferred from three years service in France with the Royal Canadian Medical corps to the Canadian Section of the Royal Air Force at Upper Heyford, Oxfordshire. He returned to Canada with the founding members of the Royal Canadian Air Force in 1919 to Camp Borden. He served 25 years until discharg- ed at the end of World. War II. He was for many years the Senior First Class Warrant Officer of the RCAF prior to his commission. Mr. Taylor was a member of the Royal Canadian Legion, Branch 109, and the Masons. He was also a member of St. George's Anglican Church. Surviving are several nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by his first. wife, Floss Carpenter in 1964, and his second wife Annie Greenhalgh in 1986;, as well as brothers Harry, Thomas, Albert and Stanley and sisters Hettie and Lucy. The funeral service was held at the Mc- Callum and Palla Funeral Home on Satur- day, May 2 with Rev. Robert Crocker of St. George's Anglican Church officiating. The Royal Canadian Legion and Ladies Auxiliary to Branch 109 held a service at the ' funeral home Friday evening. Interment in Maitland Cemetery. HUGH LOBB Hugh Alexander Lobb, a well known Holmesville area resident, died in Clinton Public Hospital on April 30 after a lengthy illness. Born in Clinton on May 21, 1946, Hugh was the son of Mervyn and Jean (Webster) Lobb • of Goderich Township. Hugh married Mart- je Koopmans, Of Auburn, on August 17, 1968 in Auburn and they had three children - Greg, Shari and Nancy,, He is also survived by his parents, Mer- vyn and Jean, and brothers, Don, Bruce,. Murray and Gordon and'their families, and One sister, Jeannette (Mrs. Irvin Martin) and her .family - all•of Goderich Township. • Hugh is the son-in-law of Ruurd and Jant- je. Koopmans of Auburn, and the brother-in- law of Marsha (Mrs. Austin Fults, of Car- diff, Ontario), Klalske.(Mrs. Brian Werth, bf Hanover), John, and Andrew (both of Goderich) and all their families. Hugh was a line foreman with Ontario Hydro, Clinton where he had worked for 20 years. The family resided. in Holmesville and worshipped at Holmesville United Church, where Hughhad served as Elder, Stewart, Choir Director and Sunday School Superintendent. Hugh's musical abilities were' enjoyed by many, for 'he and Martie sang as a duet, while he also took part in a quartet with his brothers, Bruce, Gordon 'and Murray.. He maintained an involvement in sports by playing recreational hockey and' working as both coach and organizer for the Goderich Township ball league. Funeral services were held on May' 3, from Wesley -Willis Church, Clinton with in- terrment in Clinton Cemetery. Rev. James Bechtel officiated and pallbearers were friends of the family - Bill Crawford, Dave Hemingway, Harold Jantzi, Doug Norman, I,arry Rutledge.and Jim Webb. Friends and relatives met for fellowship after the service 'at Holmesville United Church. Beattie Funeral Home, Clinton, MRS.
