They reported a• shared school at Cen1 Huron Secondary school' in Clinton •would`be able to accom- modate a Catholic High hoot in a vacant . wing and offer a wide rang of subjects. • • The report revealed Cabo is parents are interested in the religious formation of their. secondary school:aged childre , and . if a Catholic school was not feasi•le, there would be continued support for the Board in offering religious education redits ( coursed through continuing ed cation - night school. - The committee cited a lack of'a city en- tre and geographical distance as an obsta le -to.. some ratepayers' and parents - to t e. establishment of a Catholic secondar\ school. ' The committee found the Catholic com- munity in Huron County may not be ready to commit itself fully to the support of Catholic secondary education.'It may take more time to establish and acknowledge a framework whereby parents and students would accept 'the benefits associated with being a ;school with a difference' Among the committee's' recommenda- tions, besides delaying considering a Catholic. secondary school until 1990, was a recommendation to continue to " offer religious education credit at the secondary level through continuing education, and con- sider adding senior division credits. The board, on an interim basis, should consider extending transportation links west on.
