Almost all students reported to have had
a ,most enjoyable Christmas vacation but
then everyone should have been in the
- Christmas mood by the last day of school'
before the holidays because of our daily
carol singing for two weeks in December.
What great Christmas spirit was felt as 300
singers from Kindergarten to Grade 8 join-
ed .voices to celebrate the birth of Jesus.
Mr. Herman and his wife received an
extra -special Christmas present. Con-
gratulations to them on the birth of their
baby girl. Happy New Year from
everyone.
In 8C students are 'still wrapped up in
Christmas gifts and New Year's resolu-
tions. Mary -Jane is still trying to lift her
present from the class gift exchange;
Julie promises not to score on her own

McIntosh apples? Pablum? The Robert-

because "A Ccfnadian Invented That."
This term marks the beginning of an in-
tensive study program for French in

is aiming to spend 15-20 minutes each night

Looking for winter fun? The Maitland
Valley Conservation Authority would like to
invite you and your family to "Fun in the
Snow Day" at the Wawanosh Valley Conser-
vation Area on Sunday, January 25, 1987.
At first glance, winter often seems cold
and lifeless but we'll soon prove this false
through a variety of activities. ,
From 1:00 to 2:00 p.m. you'll learn how
you can help birds survive the cold winter.
Participants will build a bird feeder for
their yard and learn' about the preferred
menus of our fine feathered friends. Each
participant is asked to bring a hammer and,
$3.00 to cover the cost of the feeder. Pre-
registration is required for feeder building
prior to Friday, Jan. 23.
At 2:30, we'll embark on a winter hike. Br-
ing your snowshoes or skis for a first hand
look at winter. A . small quantity of
snowshoes will' be available for rent, $1.00
per pair, at Wawanosh. In case •of poor
weather, "Fun in the Snow" day. will be
rescheduled to Sunday,. February 41, 1987.
Wawanosh Valley Conservation Area is
located two km west at highway No. 4 on
Concession 6 and 7 of East Wawanosh
Township.
To pre -register for bird -feeder building or
for further information, contact the
Maitland Valley Conservation Authority at

off in better marks and confidence. Good
luck Grades 7 and 8.
7A will be voluntarily participating in a
read-a-thon sponsored by World Book En-
cyclopedia. We hope by reading more that
our reading skills will improve. Mrs.
Susan Chan has volunteered to be our
parent volunteer for 7A French classes.
We are Oery happy to have her help in
marking books, helping with French drills
and one-to-one guidance on seatworlk 7A
is also very fortunate to have the
assistance of Mrs_ Mary Ann Dempsey as
a parent volunteer forPLanguage Arts. She
promises to do some drama 'g oups with
us. We really look forward to, our
volunteers' visits. It's nice to see our
parents at school with us:
Everyone in Kindergarten was happy to
see each other after Christmas holidays.
There were many things to tell and new
toys to be shon. We are hearing all'about
them.
Mrs. Deb Heslinga was kind enough to
come and teach three Grade 7 classes a
lrsson on creative thinking. The model
tha,M she used with the classes is caped
Bloom's Taxonomy. She introduced the
topic with a discussion of the six levels of
thinking contained in this model.
Doctor Dawson visited Grade 6 students
in December to talk about the dangers of
drugs under the VIP program. Now they
are studying shoplifting and they would
like to thank Constable Poltec for his time
and participation in the program:
Grade 6 has also spent a little bit of time
on the computer and right now they are
working on a data base assignment.
