Walton Sports Club prepares, for rally'
Visitors last week with Ellen Johnston and
Laura Phillips were Mrs. Wayne Biddey of
Calgary, Alberta, and her mother Mrs. For-
dyce Clark of Goderich, Mr. and Mrs. Stan
Strasser of Ontario, California and Mr. and
mrs. Carl Cox of Clinton.
Marjorie McDougall and Mrs. Mabel
Smith of Blyth spent Thanksgiving Monday
with Mr. and Mrs. Flloyd Smith, Lori -Anne,
Donna and Susan of London.
Mr. Jim Lawlor of RR 5 Goderich and
Mrs. Harold Baechler spent Thanksgiving
Sunday with Mr. and Mrs. Tom Lawlor.
Other visitors were Audrey Guindon of
Quebec and her daughter Margaret of
Mississauga and her granddaughter Angela
Guindon of Goderich.
Mr, and Mrs. Ed Haines of Beamsville
spent the weekend with his parents Mr. and
Msr. Don Haines.
Unit II of Knox UCW will meet at the
home of Nancy Park on Thursday, October
15 at 8 p.m.
Walkerburn Club
During the afternoon of September 30, the
Walkerburn Club went to the bazaar and tea
at 'I'luronview. After the tea, they visited
their friends and neighbours who reside
there. Come in costume at 8 p.m. on Oc-
tober 27 to Mrs. Len Archambault's home.
Atter the Halloween parade, Mrs. T. Hunk-
ing will show pictures of her trip to Europe.
Knox United Church
Knox United Church was beautifully
decorated for the Thanksgiving service with
Rev. Dave Snihur conducting the service
and Lori Milian as organist.
The call to worship was read alternatively
and the hymn 'Sing To The Lord of Harvest'
was sung followed by the prayer of ap-
proach. The announcements were given
and the junior choir sang an anthem under
the direction of Mrs. Allan Webster and
Mrs. Gordon Gross as pianist. A children's
hymn was sung followed by the hymn 'Come
Ye Thankful People Come'. The scripture
readings were given followed by the prayer
The minister's sermon was entitled `Giv-
ing Thanks By Bearing Fruit'. The choir
sang an anthem. The offering was received
by Gordon Gross and Lawrence Plaetzer
followed by the offeratory response. `Count
Your Blessings' was 'also sung.
Rev. Snihur pronounced the benediction
followed by the benedictional response
'Lord We Pray.'
Next Sunday will be the anniversary ser-
vice with a jaz choir from GDCI of
Goderich. Knox United Church Thankoffer-
ing will be held on Wednesday, October 28 at
8 p.m. at the church.
Women's Institute
The Women's Institute meeting will be
held on Tuesday, October 20 at 2 p.m. The
topic will be Citizenship and World Affairs
with conveners Mrs. Tom Jardin and Mrs.
Tina Emprey. Bring an article made in
another country. Hostesses will be Mrs.
Don Haines, Mrs. Len Archamabult and
Celia Taylor.
Western visitors stay in Auburn

The Walton area Sports Club held its mon-
thly meeting on October 7.
It was decided to sell tickets on a four
wheeler with the draw to be made on
February 7, 1988 at the annual poker rally.
The next meeting will be held at the home
of Ernie Lewington on November i1, at 8
p.m.
The club's first bingo was held last Friday
night with these winners from Walton area,
Mary Humphries, Pearl McCallum, Karen
Hoegy, Don Nolan, Marilyn McDonald and
Ernie Lewington.
There were more people in attendance for
the second -bingo on Friday evening in the
Brussels Legion, October 9, at 8 p.m. Win-
ners were for the first game, Ross Duncan,
second game, Mary Lowe, third game, John
Lowe, fourth game, Edith Warwick. First
special game of $75 was won by Mrs. Elunid
McNair, fifth game, Donna Knight and
Pearl McCallum, sixth game, • Kay Rish,
seventh game, Eileen Jorgensen and Bev
t3entley, eighth game, Kay Duncan.
Second special game of $75 was won by
Mary Bradshaw, ninth game went to
Dorothy McArter, tenth game, Ruth Lowe,
eleventh game, Kay Duncan, twelfth game,
Evelyn Graham.
Share the Wealth of $55 also went to
Evelyn Graham. Tonight's admission ticket
drawn was Bev Stevenson winning $5. Last
week's ticket drawn went to Eleanor Mason
for $10. Thirteenth game went to Bruce
Clark, fourteenth game, Jean Ireland.
The Jackpot of $150 was won by Mrs.
Hudisser, and the fifty-fifty draw of $33.75
went to Eleanor Mason.

There will be another Bingo this Friday
night at the Brussels Legion, doors open at
7:00 p.m. Bingo starts at 8 p.m.
WI NOTES
The monthly noon luncheon will be held
Wednesday, October 21. The regular Walton
Women's Institute meeting on International
Affairs is the same evening called for 8:15
p.m.
The monthly euchre sponsored by the In-
stitute is scheduled for Thursday, October
22 at 8 p.m. Lunch will be served.
CHURCH NEWS
Duff's United Church was decorated in the
Thanksgiving Theme for the service Sunday
morning with greeters Ross and Margaret
Bennett.
ABOUT PEOPLE
Mr. and Mrs. Allan Searle have returned
home from a visit to Russell, Manitoba to
see their daughter, Helen, son-in-law Jim
Duncan and grandson Cory.

ly at the Londesboro Community Hall on
Monday, October 3 .were Helen Craig,
Margaret Shortreed, Maxine Marks and
Betty from the Walton Branch.
Isabelle Shortreed and Jack Warwich at-
tended the wedding of their nephew Paul of
Blyth to Virginia Honderich of New Ham-
burg at the Zion Church, New Hamburg on
Saturday, October 10. Ken and Judy Shor-
treed were also guests at the dinner and
reception at the New Hamburg Community
Centre.
Returning home from hospitals this past
week were Viola Kirkby from Stratford, and
Nelson and Annie Reid, from Seaforth. It's
nice to have them back to our village.
Spending Thanksgiving with Walter and
,Jenny Hendrick in Kitchener were Clint and
Judy Emmrich, Jamie and Katie and Ruth
Thamer. Ruthie Thamer, Kitchener was
home for the weekend and spent Monday at
the same home.
Club meets at Centralia
The fifth meeting of the North Huron 4-H
Vet Club was held on August 11 at Centralia
College.
The meeting was opened on a discussion
about the trip to Collingwood which was
cancelled because of the lack of people
interested.
Members were then introduced to Mr. Er-
nie Sanford, a pathologist at the college.
They did an autopsy on a pig to find out what
was wrong with it. Tissues were cut out of
the pig for further testing. Mr. Sanford then
gave everyone a tour of the building.
Refreshments were served and John Ver -
burg thanked Mr. Sanford.
