The limb barely missed a parked car in the neighbor's driveway. Many Blyth residents headed for the safety of their basements on Sunday night when the storm that swept through the area brought threats of a tornado. Ian and Rose Marie have already moved to Clinton from Oakville. Ian, a Toronto native, has an accounting background, most recently an assistant treasurer of a Feed Wholesaler in Mississauga. Rose Marie, a native of Mitchell was a teacher for, twenty-eight years with the Perth and Peel County Boards of Education. Stedmans has a long history in Clinton - one of the first stores in the Stedmans chain opened in Clinton over thirty years ago. The new store will open in the former Shirai Dept. Store location and will be a prototype for the Stedmans chain - featur- ing an expanded product line. Watch for it - we know you'll like it! The storm on July 19 caused branches to break away, covering streets and lawns of Blyth residents. So, on the following morning, many residents were out cleaning up their yards. CLINTON - A delegation appeared before council during their July 20 meing to enlighten members about a "se ere pro- blem" they are facing. After hearing the complain , council agreed to delve into the matter reeper with the town's chief of police. The problem stems from group of CCB me residents living in the western section of town who have, according to the delegation, been harassing people and the state of their property is devaluing neighboring property. "If they're still there next year, I'll be looking for a 50 per cent reduction in my taxes, if not more," said a spokesperson. The residents' major concern is what they call a lack of police protection. "What we want to know is where is the Attention HOG FARMERS! police protection?" One resident said the members of his family "had to leave home and find other accomodations" on more than one occasion so they could get some sleep.
