Clinton News-Record, 1987-07-08, Page 34Page 6 1987 CDCS graduates make the 25th Mass By Sandra Vander Wal Clinton and District Christian School Dear parents, teachers, graduates, and friends, About nine years ago many little children, who were excited and likely a bit scared, came to this school for the first time. They were exited to be riding on a big yellow bus and to be going to a school with lots of kids. But they were scared too, because they thought that they might not make any friends. Well, they didn't need to worry about that because that year many of those children made very good friends that have lasted all those years and will hopefully continue to be friends in the time to come. During those years, some of the students moved away, like Sara De Jong, ('hail Gelwicks, and David Werkema, and a few have been added to our class. Those whu came later, and I should know because l was one of them, were welcomed warmly by both students and teachers. When 1 carne here in Grade 3, I missed my friends from my old school but I soon got to know many people here. I became good friends with some of them and I would like to thank, not only my classmates, but also the teachers, for helping me adjust to my new school and home. The past years have been very good but the most special for our class was this year for not only are we finally graduating but we are the 25th class of this school to do so. There have been many events to celebrate the school's 25th anniversary like a balloon day, a Special Needs Day in which our whole school assembled in the gym for 6.41 Graduating from the Clinton and District Christian School in 1987 are ( front, left): San- dra VanderWal, Janey Kerssies, Patty Slotegraaf, Anita Bruinsma, Charlene Vanden- dool, Karen Bylsma, Judy Lambers. We were all glad to be able to take part in them which has made uur gradua- tion even more special 1 would like to say thank you to all of the volunteers that have given Inc some of their time to do the various jobs at our school. To the PTA and the Board as well as to teachers for all their understanding and kindness because, even though they seemed strict at times, we know that they have prepared us for high school and our life ahead the besrthat they could. I know that we'll never forget them for that. I'd also like to thank the janitor, Mrs. Greidanus, or Aunt Grace to some of us, for cleaning up the school. I never knew how much work being a janitor was until I started working for her Working for her taught me that there are many things we take for granted because before I never really thought about the school being Our Best Wishes to the Grads of '87. Thanks, Aunt Grace Moat of all I'd like to thank our parents for sending us to this school because it's a great school even though we complain about little things, like it not having a high lump And finally to our Lord and Saviour who is our everlasting Friend. For we know that He'll never move away or desert us, and that we can always turn to Him in both good and bad times. He is our Greatest Friend, and if we ever doubt that, we can just remember that He gave His life for us. Through the past years we have all ex- perienced many joys but also some sor- rows. And with these experiences came bonds that made our friendships stronger and, hopefully brought us closer to Christ. Fellow graduates, I wish you all hap- piness and joy in your life ahead. Thank you. SP Sandra VanderWal, who was the, lintoa and District Christian School's Grade 8 valedic- torian, was also the winner of the Senior Ambassador Award.
