From diapers to diplomas
By Nicole Garon
St. Joseph's Separate School
I overheard a lady say "My gracious, I
can't imagine that these little people have
gone from diapers to diplomas so
quickly. "
Well, in one sense, it is hard to believe
that we are "the Saint Joseph's Separate
School Graduates of 1987." But on the
other hand, it has been a long journey from
kindergarten to the completion of Grade 8.
We have not been idle all these years,
but rather, we have been learning and
building a solid base for the future.
St. Joseph's School has provided us with
an education in all the fundamental sub-
jects, as well as physical education, emo-
tional and spiritual concepts.
We were treated with respect by our
teachers, and therefore, we are able to
make mature decisions regarding our
class endeavors.
Our athletic achievements were terrific.
Our fund-raisers were very successful.
Our dances were fantastic, and said to be
the best to date. This class and its teachers
worked very well together and we ac-
complished many goals.
Mr. Govenlock, or Govy as he is amiably
referred to by this class, is certainly a
brave man.
He has tolerated and guided us through
our ups and downs, our good days and bad
days, our practical jokes and our imprac-
tical ideas. He has coped with our fears,
our tears and our exuberent cheers.
The graduating class of 1987 will
remember you with kind appreciation for
the enriching role you played in our lives.
There are only eight girls and two yes
two i boys in the whole St. Joseph's
graduating class. We believe ourselves to
be very fortunate. Our numbers are small
enough to have our individual needs met,
and yet as a group, we show strength and
are a presence to be dealt with las the staff
can verify t .
We have become a family - close knit
and caring, and yes the occasional bit of
sibling rivalry and discord are also
present.
Our small class size, only indicates that
the graduates of this year, have chosen
quality not quantity.
A very good example of the quality of
which I speak, is our school president,
John Bezaire.
John is our mathematical genius, and he
has appropriately decided to become a
stock broker or a criminal lawyer. He
shouldn't have any problem with either
choice. He has had tits of practice
representing his fellow classmates' cases
to the Supreme Court of Teachers. He also
