Residents take in the beach
HURONVIEW - Residents here enjoyed
the beautiful weather and went to St.
Christopher's Beach in Goderich for a picnic
and then on to the mall for a bit of shopping.
HUG participants were also at the beach for
a picnic.
Residents were invited to Day Care for a
special program for seniors.
The monthly birthday party was held on
June 17 with Hensall Seniors entertaining.
Cupcakes and tea were served at the
close. Brussels Friendship ('lub, McKay
Seniors, Golden Gate Club and Clinton
Christian Reform were the clubs visiting for
Senior Citizens Day. Marjorie Braknis,
Margaret Gardiner welcomed the visitors at
the door. The Fog Horns entertained in the
afternoon with not only music but a lot of
humor which was enjoyed by those in
attendance.
Rev. Dave Snihur conducted the Sunday
morning service.
Huronview would like to welcome Jean
Cummings and her son James, who came to
live at Huronview this past week.

4-H Homemaking Club entertains WI

BELGRAVE — At the June meeting of the
Belgrave WI the 4-H Homemaking Club
entertained with a skit which summed up
the project Surviving With Style. The girls
then modelled the blouses they had made in
the Sewing Plus Club.
Mrs. Ross Higgins introduced Angela
Nethery, the Huron County Dairy Princess.
She conducted a contest to test their
knowledge on dairy and then gave a history
of ice-cream.
Alison Coultes sang accompanied by
Leslie Shaw.
Lunch was served and the business
meeting was conducted by Mrs. Peter
Campbell. A letter was read from the Huron
County Library promoting the use of casset-
tes or talking books which are available
from the local libraries. It was announced
that grants amounting to $1,500 each were
made from Morris and East Wawanosh
Townships for the roof on the WI Hall and
bookshelves for the library books.
The ladies were reminded of the East
Wawanosh Public School graduation ban-
quet on June 23 and were also asked to cater
to a Cattleman's Banquet on July 8.
Arrangements were finalized for a birth-
day tea at Brookhaven Nursing Home on Ju-
ly 22 at 2 p.m. Everyone was reminded of
the Cemetery Service to be conducted by
Knox Presbyterian Church, Belgrave on Ju-
ly 5.
There will be a bus trip from Belgrave to
St. Jacobs and Elora on September 17. Bring
a box lunch and dine out on the way home.
Anyone interested can contact Mrs. Richard
Moore or any Institute member.
Mrs. Garner Nicholson reported that the
theme of the recent District Annual was a
Heritage of Agriculture. She spoke on the
promotion of the Butler Project and gave
out brochures on this project.
The job of replacing the hall roof and
building bookshelves was awarded to Bryan
Black.

Lorne Campbell attended the United
Church Muskoka Conference in the
Delawana Inn at Honey Harbour on the June
12 weekend.
Mr. and Mrs. 'Richard Moore visited her
parents in Leamington June 13 weekend and
attended an anniversary party in Windsor
for Mr. and Mrs. Frank Moore. They also
visited with their daughter, Nancy, who is in
Windsor for two months doing clinical work
at the Regional Children's Centre.
Mr. and Mrs. Chester Cinnell of Mildmay
and Hazel Davidson of Wingham visited
with Olive Bolt on June 17.
Neighbors and friends of this community
wish to extend congratulations to Mr. and
Mrs. Bert JohnAton on the occasion of their
50th wedding anniversary on June 12.
Mr. and Mrs. Jim Johnston of Welland
visited this past week with Mr. and Mrs.
Bert Johnston.
Mr. and Mrs. Bert Johnston attended the
Speiran re -union in the Mitchell Park on
June 18.
Marjorie Proctor of London visited with
her mother Elizabeth Procter on June 16.
Mrs. Procter returned to London with her
daughter and spent a week with Marjorie
returning home on June 23.
June 21 was the final day for Sunday
school in the Belgrave United Church before
the summer holidays.
Marjory Russel of Listowel was a special
guest and she showed her slides of a trip she
had taken through the Holy Land.
The morning session concluded with the
presentation of diplomas and seals to all the
students.

4-H Meeting
The 4th meeting of the Lucknow Calf Club
was held at the home of Dianne and Darlene
Black on June 8. The meeting dealt with
marketing and grading of steers and
heifers. They discussed different reasons
for marketing and the bases of grading.
The next meeting will be held June 30 at
Steven Rintoul's.
50th Anniversary
Mr. and Mrs. Bert Johnston celebrated
their 50th wedding anniversary with a din-
ner in the Sunday school room of Knox
United Church.
The Bridal party of 50 years ago:
bridesmaid, Mrs. McCurdy Lowry
(Madalon Speiran) from Florida; bestman,
Jim Johnston (brother of the groom);
flower girls, Mrs. Grant (Helen Johnston)
McLean (niece) and Mrs. Don (Maxine
Speiran) Vallance ( cousin) were all in
attendance.
Other guests were from Vero Beach,
Florida; Michigan; Welland; Toronto;
Brooklin; London; Listowel; Goderich;
Clinton and Brussels.
After the dinner, open house was held in
the Women's Institute Hall, Belgrave with
over 300 friends, relatives and neighbours in
attendance.
Kindergarten Graduates
On June 19 the parents, grandparents and
friends of the 20 graduating kindergarten
scholars gathered in the auditorium of the
East Wawanosh Public School to witness the
ceremony. Balloon decorations com-
plemented the setting.
The program commenced as the small
participants rose singly to their feet and
very distinctly announced their name.
Following a well -rehearsed Mother Goose
skit in songs and actions with Kindergarten
teacher Cheryl Hessels as piano accom-
panist, each pupil, in turn, crossed the plat-
form to Mr. Scott who placed a mortar
board on their small heads, presented them
with a graduation scroll and gave a hand-
shake of congratulations. Mrs.Brydes re-
affirmed the congratulations.
At the completion of this portion of the
program, the senior choir presented several
numbers with Mr. Chaulk as pianist.
Mr. Scott thanked Mr. Chaulk for his fine
leadership in class and musical training and
expressed regret that he will transfer to
Turnberry Central in September. The same
thoughts were echoed by the scholars with a
handclap.
The seniors then retired to their respec-
tive rooms while refreshments were en-
joyed by the graduating class and their
friends.
A special hour of stories, poems, puppetry, film and crafts came to a year end for
preschoolers at Huron Centennial Public School. Those who will be returning to
kindergarten in the fall capped this event with a bus ride from school to home with a
