Clinton and area obituaries
Roy Elliott
Roy William John Elliott, of 45 Huron
Street Clinton, died at his,,,residence on May
19. He was 74 years old.
Mr. Elliott was born in Goderich
Township on November 27, 1912 to the late
Alexander and Roseanne May (Jervis)
Elliott. On November 8, 1934 he married the
former Norene Finch at the Ontario Street
United Church Parsonage by F.G. Farrill.
Mr. Elliott was retired from the Ministry
of Transportation and Communications. He
was also a member of Ontario Street United
Church.
He is survived by his wife, two daughters,
Mrs. Howard (Phyllis) Edwards of Clinton
and Mary Freeman of London; and two
sons, Terry and his wife Edna of Sarnia and
Gary and his wife Florence of Clinton. Also
surviving are eight grandchildren.
Mr. Elliott is survived by one sister, Mrs.
Raymond (Verna) Whitmore of Clinton and
one brother, Melvin (Mac) Elliott of RR3
Clinton.
He was predeceased by one son in infancy
and one sister, Mrs. John (May) Gibson.
A funeral and committal service was held
on May 21 at Ball and Falconer Funeral
Home, Clinton with Rev. Grant Mills,
former minister of Ontario Street United
Church officiating in the absence of Rev.
David Woodall.
Interment in Clinton Cemetery.
MR. LORNE W. RODGES
Mr. Lorne W. Rodges, of Goderich and
formerly of Goderich Township, died at
Maitland Maxtor on Tuesday, May 19 at the
age of 84.

Mr. & Mrs. Doug McLeod, Clin-
ton are pleased to announce
the engagement of their
daughter, Dawn Gabrielle to
Allan Duane Dyck, son of Mrs.
Elsie Pannabecker, Auburn,
and Mr. Henri' :.-Dyck,
nipeg. The wedding will take
place June 13, 1987 at Wesley -
Willis Church, Clinton.
Born in Goderich Township on July 1,
1902, he was the son of the late Robert W.
Rodges and the former Mary Ann Jewell.
He was a farmer in Goderich Township
until his retirement. He was a member of
Victoria Street United Church as well as
Benmiller Court No. 4: Canadian Foresters.
Surviving are his wife, the former Mary
(May) Currell; two sons, Leonard and his
wife, Eileen, and John and his wife Della, all
of Goderich Dorothy and her husband Bill
Ferguson, also of Goderich Township.
Fiftenn grandchildren and 25 great-
grandchildren also survive.
He was predeceased by one brother
Orville.
The funeral service was held at the Mc-
Callum and Palla Funeral Home on Thurs-
day, May 21 with Rev. Robert Ball of North
Street United Church officiating.
Bennuller Court No. 86 of Canadian
Foresters held a memorial service at the
funeral home Wednesday evening.
Flowerbearers were grandchildren
Bradley Rodges, Tressa Rodges, Lisa
Rodges and Colleen Rodges. Pallbearers
were grandsons Gerald Rodges, David
Rodges, Glenn Ferguson, Wayne Scott,
David Bean and Jiro Campbell.
Interment in Maitland Cemetery.
Phoebe Anne Stanley
Phoebe Anne Stanley, of Meadow Park
Nursing Home, died in St. Joseph's Hospital
in London on May 15. She was 79 years old.
Mrs. Stanley was born on May 22, 1907 to
Frebren and Beatrice (Mayhew)
Hodgkinson.
She is survived by three children, Marion
Kirk of Oakville, Marjorie Dean of Van-
couver, B.C. and John Stanley of Goderich.
Mrs. Stanley is also survived by 11 grand-
children and several great and great great
grandchildren.
She was predeceased by one brother, Gor-
don Hodgkinson in 1985.
A funeral service was held at MacKenzie
and McCreath Funeral Horne, Lucknow
with Rev. M. Christensen officiating.
Interment in Greenhill Cemetery,
Lucknow.
Safety with ladders
A recent survey of Ontario farm injv^ies
indicated that a large number of farm in-
juries happen as a result of falls from lad-
ders. Placing a ladder correctly is impor-
tant. The base of the ladder should be one
