At a meeting of Cart- wright township, Council held a few days ago, a petition, signed by more than half the ratepayers in the town, ship was presented to the council, ask- ing them to pass ;.4, by-law, prohibiting the sale of intoxicating liquors in that township. The Council granted the request, and the by-law was given its first reading. It is the, intention to vote on it at the coming .election. There is only one hotel at present in the Township and it is ,located at Blackstock.
