test milk

BAYFIELD - The second meeting of the
Bayfield 4-H Dairy Calf Clutt was held at
Fred Peel's on May 4. The first item was a
discussion of a class of purebred milking
Holsteins. Various members were selected
to give reasons on the class of three warden
daughters and one royality daughter.
The , members then progressed to the
house to complete a lesson on Marvellous
Milk in the new booklet. Bob Vodden set up a
milk tasting test. Homo, goat, 2%, skim and
buttermilk were tested. The members en-
joyed the buttermilk and the goat's milk the
most.
David Jones, the president of the club mo-
tioned to end the meeting.
Fred Peel served pizza, chocolate milk
and a soft drink to the members after the
meeting.

Youth council
elects executive
A Huron County Youth Council was form-
ed at the Youth Leaders' meeting on April
27.
The youth council will be responsible for
organizing various social activities for
young people and helping with other 4-H ac-
tivities such as a regional Reach for the Top
Competition.
With the enthusiasm that was generated
at the meeting, the Huron County Youth
Council should be off to an excellent begin-
° ing. The executive is as follows: president -
Steven Beane; vice-president - Kim Rin-
toul; secretary -treasurer - Lana Jones;
press reporter - Audrey Box; youth council
advisor - Barry Cleave.
The first youth council meeting will be
held on May 25 at 8 p.m. at the Central
Huron Secondary School in Clinton
( Room 117 ). All senior members welcome.

4-H judging workshops held
For the first time, special judging
workshops will be held for 4-H members and
leaders. These workshops will prepare the
4-H members for the Annual Huron County
4-H Judging Competition.
The workshops will teach the members
how to judge, give reasons, and will explain
how the competition works. The last
workshop will be held on May 16, 1 p.m. at
John McIntosh's, No. 5, Brussels.
The Huron County 4-H Judging Competi-
tion will be held on May 23. at the Clinton
Arena, starting at 9 a.m. All 4-H members
are welcome.
