Volleyball
competitions
CLINTON - February has long been
established as a month for volleyball at Clin-
ton and, District Christian School( CDCS).
This year, too, the students are busy with
this sport. Noon recesses are the times for
intramural volleyball. Eight teams of
students from Grade 5 to 8 are playing for a
school victory. Student referees officiate the
garnes. It is a good way to spend the wintry
recesses.
1987
On February 7, the school participated in
the Elementary School Volleyball Tourna-
ment held at CHSS. After a day of excellent
playing and competitive teamwork, the
CDCS girls claimed the trophy for a first -
place finish and the CDCS boys came .in
second.
Both teams played well. All enjoyed the
day and wish to express their thanks for a
well -organized tournament.
Qn February 13, CDCS staff travelled to
the Sarnia Christian School for a Profes-
sional Development day. The morning devo-
tional speaker was Carol Kent of Michigan.
Her inspiring address entitled Living above
Our Circumstances, indicated quite clearly
that God does indeed have a purpose for us
and our lives. Daily events, discouraging as
some may be, need not dishearten us, for we
know that God's Word can overcome.
There was a variety of workshops to at-
tend for the rest of the morning and the
afternoon. Some of the ones attended by
Clinton staff were: Classroom Video Pro-
ductions, Using the Newspaper as a
Teaching Tool,. Building Self -Esteem in
Children, Whys and Ways of the Overhead
Projector Use, Humanism, Music Therapy,
and First Aid for Teachers.
A PD day of this kind is interesting, uplif-
ting, and informative. Teachers from both
Chatham and Woodstock Christian School
Districts participated.
This week, parent -teacher interviews are
set for February 18. With the school year
more than halfway completed, the progress
of students is well established. In areas of
concern, there is yet time to set up extra
help or remedial study. It is always good for
parents and teachers to discuss the child's
work.
