Michele Tyndall came out on top for the Pee Wee girls with the high single of 120, the high dou- ble at 223 and the high average of 86. There was also a single bowler who came out on top for the Pee Wee boys as Stephen King had the high single with 144, the high double at 272 arld the high average of 112. BILL COUNTER Counter makes history On February 11 Bill Counter of the Colt 35s made history by becoming the oldest player to score a hat trick in the history of com- petitive hockey in Clinton. The triple came in an 8-7 victory over Forest and included the game winner. We •won't mention Bill's age, but some readers probably played with him in minor hockey over 50 years ago. In the field portion of the event, our com- petitors all turned in personal bests and made a very good showing. Mike Corrie won the gold medallion in the midget boys high jump with.a jump of 1.70 metres. Lisa Beat- tie finished with a silver in thegnidget girls event with a very good jump of 1.45 metres and Marilyn Mayberry was third at 1.40 metres. Heather Brownridge won a bronze in the junior girls high jump with a 1.40 metre effort. On the track, Steve Souch set a new school record of 9:17 minutes in the open boys 3,000 finishing seventh out of 32 runners. In the 1500 metre, Greg Lobb ran a respectable 5:17 minutes, finishing sixth in his heat of the midget boys. In the other heat, Jon Lep- pington finished fifth with a time of 5:22 minutes. In the open girls event, Heather Brownridge ran a 6:25 minute time. In the relay events, the 4x400 metre relay team composed of Ming Lee, David Sparl- ing, Ron Calder and Mike Verhoef ran a good time of 3:51 minutes finishing third in their heat. The open girls medlay relay com- posed of Karen Uyl, Stacey Elliott, Alison .Leacock and Heather Brownridge ran a good time of 4:56 minutes. The open boys medlay composed of John [,ambers, Dave Spading, Pat Hulley and Ming Lee ran a respectable 4:08 minutes. The midget girls medlay composed of Angela Reid, Kathy Kennedy, Lisa Beattie and Tara Clutt ran a respectable 3:46 time. Blazes hit area CLINTON - It has been a busy week for fire fighters here, as they have had to battle two fires. The fire fighters were called out to the worse of the two fires at 1:10 a.m- on the morning of February 15 when a chicken barn caught fire at Case Keiper's farm on RR1 in Clinton. "It was totally engulfed in flames when we arrived," said Clinton Fire Chief Fred Lobb. He added that the firefighters stood by for a few hours to make sure the fire didn't spread. but there was nothing they could do to save the barn.
