HAPPY 19th BIRTHDAY — Kimmy — CLINTON NEWS -RECORD, WEDNESDAY, FEBRUAR'(TI; 1987—Page 21 Music -barbershop style CLINTON - Arts Committee Entertain - !Tient series subscribers were treated to an evening of. Barbershop harmony on February 7, at the Clinton Town Hall. The Seaforth Harmony Kings, . (the men's chorus) and Harmony Hi-lites, (the women's chorus). favored the audience with songs old and new, funny and solemn. Fur- ther variations in sound were achieved by the two men's quartets. Barry Mahon and Margaret Whitmore are the two music directors who led the groups in song. It was obvious that the entire group enjoyed per- forming as much as- the audience enjoyed hearing them. The master of ceremonies for the evening was Bruce Whitmore. He kept the show roll- ing smoothly and entertained the audience with his amusing stories. The profits that this group makes are donated to the Institu- tion for Logopedics, an organization for autistic children and children with hearing and speech impediments. There were two door prizes drawn in in- termission, and the lucky recipients were Art Colson and Mary Hayward. The prizes consisted of two Clinton Arts • Vommittee (CAC) mugs and a LACAC poster, featuring historic buildings in the Clinton area. Tickets for next year's CAC Entertain- ment Series will be available at the final performance of this year's series. Next year, the (CAC will feature four perfor- mances instead of three, one being Clinton Community Players. Another performance already booked is called "Life After Hockey", a one man comedy performed on skates on a special surface on the stage. The other items in series will include a Brass Quintet and a comedy cabaret. For further information, please contact the Town Hall at 482-3997. Library has new book club By Dawn Hunking CLINTON - In November, the Public Library here began an adult book club which meets the last Tuesday of each month at the library. There is a different book each month which is provided by the library and at the monthly meetings, the book is discussed. There are approximately nine members and they are looking for more people to join. The meetings last for approximately one hour and are very interesting. Many topics are discussed at these meetings such as the author, the plot, the author's style, and previous books he or she has written. There is a variety of books that are read and next month's selection is "Voices of Time". The books that are read are general- ly written by Canadian authors. Previous books that have been read are Shorelines, by Roy McGregor, Island in the Stream, by Ernest Hemingway, and a biography of Sarah Jeannette Duncan. Basically, the book club creates an in- terest in the library. There is no fee to enter, and everyone is welcome. If you would like more information con- cerning the book club, you can stop by the library or, you can give them a call at 482-3673. For children there will be a special Valen- tine's story hour on Saturday, February 14, at 2:30 P.M. at the library. Everyone is welcome! RURAL WATER QUALITY INFORMATION DAY Fri.
