On September 16, Clinton Lodge IOOF held their Jewel Night with
11 service pins presented to local members. Those •receiving pins

Fifteen attend Goshen Women's meeting

GOSHEN - Goshen United Church Women
met at Margaret Elliott's home on
September 18 with 15 ladies in attendance.
Geraldine Eckel and her goup were in
charge of the meeting.
After reading a poem and a portion of
scripture, Geraldine introduced the topic
Stewardship. Geraldine, Margaret Robin-
son and Helen Keys all presented in-
teresting articles fromthe 1986-87 Steward-
ship magazine. Geraldine urged the con-
tinued support for the M & S Fund, . which
makes it possible for the people whose
stories were heard to serve m so many ways
in many places. After singing a hymn,
members closed the worship service with
prayer.
President Helen Keys took charge of the
business.. Nora Keys reported $1,755.62 in
the treasury. Heritage books to be given to
those who. are sick or shut-in were passed
around for all to see.
The Regional meeting is to be held in Win-
throp on September 29 at 6:30 p.m. The an-
nual turkey dinner is on October 29. Watch
the local papers for a further announce-
ment. The Babylon group will be in charge
of this dinner. They will also cater . to the
Crop and Soil banquet on November 27 at
the Complex.

Seniors invited to play cards, crokinole

HENSALL - On September 25 the Bank of
Montreal in Hensall will host its second
Seniors' Night.
This fun filled evening of cards and
crokinole will be held at 7:30 p.m. at the
liensall United ('.hurch• Lunch will be serv-
ed and there will be prizes awarded. Last
year 60 seniors attended.

Jersey visited last week with Audrey
Christie of Hensall. While here they visted
with Jessie.. Brock (Mrs„ Dare's sister. in-
law) at the Bluewater Nursing Home.
Muffins remind residents of early days
HURONVIEW.- Several of the women at
Huronview were; kept busy Monday after-
noon baking muffins. They had great suc-
cess with them.:; an after pan was turned
out, hot from thep, v ,with a touch o£hu,
ttge ,
the muffins we ae licious. For most 'of
these mothers and.' grandmothers, it has
been a long time since they spent hours in
their own kitchens, baking and cooking
meals. This is one of many activities that
has been programmed for the seniors.
• It was an exciting Tuesday afternoon
when the residents were invited to a social
time in the auditorium. Refreshments were
served with cheese and crackers.
In the evening, residents who belong to the
Bluewater Club for the Blind joinedthe
other members for a meeting which was
held in the Wesley -Willis Church, Clinton.
The September birthday party took place
on Wednesday afternoon, and the Seniors'
Club from Stanley Township (Stan -lee
Seniors) were in charge. The auditorium
was filled to capacity for this event. Mary
Gibbings welcomed everyone and then in-
troduced the chairperson, Mary Rowntree,
whom ai?no ced the numbers on:the pro-
d'ram:. Ann Kefea'piaii st,'plai ►ed for Ruby'
Triebner, Noreen Hayter, Mary Elliott,
Louise Ivanchenko and Mary Rowntree who
sang a few songs familiar to everyone. They
also led in a sing -song.
Adam Wilson and George Dowson played
some snappy tunes on their violins, with
Mary Broadfoot at the piano. The group of
ladies' sang a novelty number with the
theme being hats.
Birthday people for September had their
names called, then Happy Birthday was
sung.
During the serving of refreshments,
Adam and George entertained with their
violins accompanied by Mary Broadfoot. A
thank you to the guests was given by Flora
Dowson.
On Thursday afternoon, the ladies from
various units were busy baking cookies. .
Rev. John Pluta conducted Roman
Catholic Mass in the chapel Friday morn-
ing Sunday,morning worship was held in
the chapel, with 'Red. David Snihur in
charge. During the service, Margaret Mc-
Queen sang a solo.
Huronview welcomes Annie East from
London.
Sympathy is extended to Elsie Henderson
and family. Elsie's son Cliff passed away
this week. To the family of the late Hannah
Wilson, sympathy is also expressed.
A draw was made on the handmade quilt
and the person having the winning ticket
belonged to R. Custus from Goderich'. Mary
Rowntree made the draw.
A consignment sale will be held daily from
8 a.m. - 4 p.m. in craft store room. Will sell
anything you own for 10 per cent. Bring to
craft room. Closed Weekends.
