Stanley died in Victoria Hospital., London on July 31. He was 66 years old. Born in Lucknow on May 25, 1920, he was the son of the late Ida P. Henderson and James Stanley. He was married to Betty I. Straughan in 1947 at the Benmiller United Church. - Mr. Stanley once owned Stanley Brothers and the Clinton Meat Market. He was also the former owner of the Food Store in Grand Bend and Blue's Market in Goderich. Before his death, Mr. Stanley was the owner of the Goderich Vacuum Centre. Along with his.•wife, Mr. Stanley is surviv- ed by two sons, Jim of Clinton and .Paul of Toronto: Also surviving are two sisters and two brothers, Mrs. Ellida (Clarence) Irwin of Lucknow, Mrs. Edythe (George) Dunseath of Toronto, Eldon of Grand Bend and Bert of London. Two grandsons, two grand daughters, five nephews and two nieces also survive. Funeral services were held on August 2 at the Beattie Funeral Home in Clinton. Rev James Bechtel officiated and interment was held at the Clinton Cemetery. Ross Colquhoun Longtime restauranteur and horseman, Ross Colquhoun of 1343 Adelaide St., London died at St. Joseph's Hospital, London on August 1. He was 55 years old. Mr. Colquhoun owned a restaurant in Clin- ton at one time. Born in Clinton on January 12, 1931, he was the son of the late Elmer William Col- quhoun and Isabelle McKellar. In 1954 he married Irene Jackson of Clin- ton and is survived by his wife and one daughter, Rhonda of London. Also surviving are three sisters, Mrs. Isabel (Len) Theedom of Clinton, Mrs. Audrey (George) ,Hepburn of Willowdale, Mrs. Margaret (John) Robinson of Clinton, and four brothers, Hugh of Goderich, Mur- ray of Owen Sound, Thomas of Clinton and Hugh of London. He was predeceased by two brothers, Laurie and Kenneth and a sister Jeajn Caldwell. Funeral services were held on August 4 at the Beattie Funeral Horne. Rev. William Barber officiated. Interment was held at the Clinton Cemetery. Pallbearers were Thomas, Mur- ray and Hugh Colquhoun, John Robinson, Len Theedom and Scott Edwards. Walter Glen Layton A lifetime area resident, Wlater Glen Layton died at his RR3, Clinton home on Ju- ly 28. He was 68 years old. Mr. Layton farmed in Stanley and Goderich Townships in his lifetime. Born in Tuckersmith Township of November 20, 1917. his parents were the late Walter Layton and Mary B. Walters. He was also predeceased by his wife, the former Ilene Greer. Richard Allan Welch The life of 30 year old Rick Welch was taken suddenly on July 27, the result of a motor vehicle accident. Mr. Welch of Bayfield and formerly of Clinton and Little Britain died at University Hospital in London. He worked as a businessman as partner in the Bayfield Marine Services for one -and -a - half years. He was a member of the Clinton Optimist Club, played goalie for the Clinton Mustangs Junior C Hockey Club and was first baseman for the Clinton Colts Hardball team. Born on January 16, 1956 in Lindsay, he was the son of Allan Welch and Glenna Foster of Clinton. Along with his parents, Mr. Welch is sur- vived by his ex-wife Patricia Kay. Interment was held in the Bayfield Cemetery. Violet Managhan Violet Leola Managhan, formerly of Clin- ton, died in Huronview on July 27. She was 83 -years -old. Mrs. Managhan was born on April 20, 1903 to Samuel and Ellen (Bolton) Gliddon in Hullett Township. She was also the wife of Hartley J. Managhan. Mrs. Managhan is survived by one son, Robert of Kitchener, one granddaughter, Pamela, and one brother Bert Gliddon of Clinton. She was predeceased by her parents, her husband, two sisters, Mrs. Glen (GraceI McKnight, Mrs. George (Irene) Glazier; and two brothers, Chester and Carman Gliddon. A memorial service was held on July 31 at the Ball and Falconer Funeral Home, Clin- ton, with Rev. James Bechtel of Wesley - Willis United Church officiating. A cremation took place with the ashes .. buried in the family plot in the Clinton' Cemetery. New reverend VARNA - Rev. Sam Parker, 28, took over responsibility for the United Churches in Varna and Goshen on July 1. The induction service for the new reverend, a recent grauduate of Emmanuel College in Toronto, took place on July 4. Before deciding to become a reverend he was an undergraduate at the University of Waterloo, studying math, with co-op in chartered accountancy. While studying at Waterloo, he said he was not planning to join the United Church in his present capacity. "I had inklings of it when I was much younger, but I avoided it," he said.
