Varna Singers perform_ for the fun of it
The Varna Singers are well known to all
who live in Stanley Township and to those
who have attended special events in the
area. Therefore, it should conte as no sur-
prise to hear that the group will be perform-
ing during the Homecoming Weekend.
The Varna Singers were formed four
years ago by organist Marjorie Hayter•after
Pete Postill gaveer the idea. At that time,
the group consisre of Bob Norman, Bill
Dowson, Don Taylor, Pete Postill, Marjorie
Hayter, Brenda Consitt and Joyce Dowson.
These original members are still a part of
the group and have added Lori Hayter,
Sherry Chuter, Sharon Clutter and Marg
Hayter.
An unique aspect of the Varna Singers is
their attitude. -
"We just have a lot of fun. We meet at
each others homes and practice," said Mrs.
Hayter.
The group has been practising once a
week lately but normally tries to take the
summer months off.
The Varna Singers' perform mainly dur-
ing church services but they have sang .at
annual meetings and, of course, they took
part in the Stanley Township Talent Night
held earlier this year.
Some songs from their repertoire include
Peace In The Valley, Wonderful Time Up
Here, Country Roads and Could I Have This
Dance.
If you have yet to hear the Varna Singers,
be sure to look for their float in the Stanley
Township Sesquicentennial Parade which
will take place at noon on August 2 or attend
the church service at the Complex on
August 3 at 10:30 a.m.
The Varna Singers have pleased the music fans of Stanley
Township for four years now. During the Homecoming Weekend
they will perform during the parade and at the church service.
