Kitchener bugle corps
to play at festival
This year the Kitchener -
Waterloo based Ventures Drum
and Bugle Corps will entertain
the Klompen Feest crowds with
their music.
The all girl corps, comprised
of 75 women between the ages
of 12 and 20, has an impressive
list of wins. From 1976 through
to 1983, they held the All Girl
Canadian National title; from
1978 to 1982 they held the On-
tario Provincial Title; from
1978 to 1980 and in 1982 they held
the U.S. Open title; in 1978 to
1980 they held the American In-
ternational title and in 1980 they
held the Drum Corps Interna-
tional title.
In the Class A and All Girls
division, they won the DCI East
and DCI Canada titles in 1980
and have held the position of
DCI World Champions from
1980 to 1985. In 1985 they were
also the Canadian National.
Champions.
The Ventures have also won
several parade titles for their
co-ordination in playing as well
as their appearance, donning
their four multi -colored latin
style ponchos worn with a black
skirt, white feathered hat and
white slippers.
Music from their 1985 reper-
toire includes Spring Lake
Overture, Buena Vida, My
Foolish Heart and Let's Hear It
For Me.
The band can be seen mar-
ching in the Klompen Feest
Parade on May 17 as well as
performing at the community
park at 4 p.m. that afternoon.
