Atoms end. streak
Last Monday, March 3, the Clinton Atoms
modest five game winning streak came to
an end as they were defeated by Exeter in
an exhibition contest by the score of 5 - 3. °

Exeter opened up a 2 - 0 lead at the end of
the first period on two goals by Brad Thomp-
son. Exeter continued to play well in the se-
cond stanza and pulled ahead 4 - 0 by the
6:46 mark on Thompson'$ gird goal of the
game. and a goal' by Joel Smith. But before
the second frame came to an end Danny
Wildfong scored for Clinton to spoil the Ex-

Shawn Chipchase helped set up the Clinton
goal. .
After receiving a pep talk between the se-
cond and third period the Clinton boys came
out with lots of anxiety to get back into the
contest. Trailing 4 - 1 Shawn Chipchase
scored his 72nd and 73rd goals of the season
to cut the Exeter lead to- 4 - 3 with three
minutes rembining. Clinton continued to
press hard to earn the equalizer but with 32
seconds remaining in the game Jason
Heywood foiled Clinton's comeback .at-
tempt.

New program offered
The following is a partial list of programs
that the Clinton Recreation Committee is of-
fering for spring. If there are any questions
concerning the details, please call the
Recreation Office at 482-3398.
Trim -a -Size
An evening Trim -a -Size program will be
offered Monday and Wednesday evenings in
the high school gym. This program has been
well received in the past and it is hoped that
anyone who is interested, will register at the
Recreation Office. The program will begin
March 24 and run for 10 weeks.
CONTEST
FOR YOUTH
AGES 5-13 YEARS OLD
at the
CLINTON ARENA
Sunday, March 16, 1986
Registration Time: 2:30 p.m.
Contestants will compete only
against others of the same age.
BRING HOCKEY STICK
Gymnastics
The spring session for Gymnastics will
begin April 7. This program features
qualified instructors who will instruct the
participants on such apparatus as the tram-
poline, the balance beam, mats, vaults, etc.
Beginners' Drama Program
The Recreation Committee is finalizing
plans for a drama program to begin in April.
The program will try to offer a basic
understanding in theatre skills and will
allow the participants to experience these
skills with a hands-on approach.

More firsts than
ever before
The Clinton Figure Skating Club won the
Interclub Figure Skating Trophy on Sunday,
March 2 at the 18th Annual Figure Skating
Competition hosted by Mitchell. Other clubs
participating included Blyth, Brussels,
Goderich, Listowel, Lucknow, Milverton,
Mitchell, Seaforth, St. Marys and Stratford.
The Clinton club had the most points at the
end of the day over the other 10 clubs to win
the trophy for the first time in 18 years of in-
terclub competition. Clinton also brought
home the Elizabeth Romanik Memorial
Trophy.
