view, the Ritz Lutheran Villa of Mitchell and the Bluewater Nurs-
ing Home in Zurich enjoyed a hay ride around the property by the
team of Belgian horses owned by Jim Aitchison of Lucknow.
Although it was a cool day, many of the residents took part in the
days activities which also included a barbecue and music supplied

Leatherlands visit with Auburn. couple

service at Knox United Church. Organist
was Lori Millian who accompanied when
Elliott Lapp sang a solo.
The minister chose for his sermon
"Making Decisions". Offering was received
by Greg Park and Murray Rollison.
Church will resume at' the regular hours
11:15 a.m. on Sept. 1.

Greg from Guelph visited with Reg and
Irene Schultz.
Sympathy is extended to Durnin family on
the death of yrs. Ernest Durnin who passed
away in the University Hospital, London, in
her 62nd year.

Museum on Labor Day weekend.
Sympathy is extended to the McDowell
family in the passing of Mrs. Norman
McDowell who passed away in Victoria
Hospital, London, in her78th year.
The Lawlor picnic was held Sunday, Aug.
25 at the home of Mr. and Mrs. George
Smyth of R,R. 3, Auburn, with a good
attendance. -
Mr. and Mrs. Archie McPhee of Richmond
Hill, Mr. and Mrs. Graham Ferguson of
Waterloo, Mr. and Mrs. Bill Borden and Mr.
and Mrs. Rathbun from Hillsburg visited on
the weekend with Mr. and Mrs. Donald
Haines.
There was ,a large crowd at the auction
sale for .the late Eleanor Bradnock held at
Auburn Community Centre • on Saturday,
Aug. 25.
Mr. and Mrs, Robert Young of Stratford

recently with Ellen Johnston and Laura
Phillips.

There were 35• people attended the
Leathland picnic on Aug. 25 at the home of
Wayne and Marie Millian. Karen Greidanus
and Glenda Bolger, organized the sports
events for the children and adults.
The 'children's Bubble gum in the jar
guessing was.won by Greg Greidanus, the
most peanuts in the peanut scramble was
won by Charlene Greidanus and kick the
hoe was won by Candice Bolger.
In the race for finding your shoe in a pile,
the winner was Kim Greidanus while
passing the balloon to the music was won by
Candice Bolger and the egg on the spoon
relay was won by Candice Bolger.
The guessing the number of peppermints
in a jar was won by Kara Leatherland,, the
nays the water balloon to music was won by
John Raithby and Lorene.Raithby and the
word game winners were Sue Bolger and Ed
Leatherland. The pass the egg on a spoon
relay team winners were Murray Bolger,
Reg- Schultz, Laura Mae Chamney, Viola.

The oldest person^was Viola Raithby, the

ticket was won by Lillian Leatherland.
Mrs. Gerritt Beimers is a patient in
Clinton Hospital. We wish her a speedy
recovery.
Mr. and Mrs. Orval McPhee visited last
Saturday with their. cousins Mr. and Mrs.
Harold .Jackson of London and also with
Laura Jackson of Ingersol.
Visitors with Mr. and Mrs. Tom Jardin
were Bob Oswald of Bridgeport, Mr. and

the Christening of their great

at the Knox Presbyterian Church, Gbderith.

The W.M.S. meeting of Presbyterian
ladies was held at the home of Hazel Craig.
Martha Deer presided over the meeting and
welcomed all present. ,
Devotional was held by Francis Clark who
gave the meditation of "Growth of The
Seed". The study period was held by Lillian
Leatherland who read the "Sun Min" story
out of Glad Tidings.
The September meeting will be at the
home of Marian Haggit.

WALTON - Guests - were present from
Blyth, Moncrief, Ethel, Brussels and
Londesboro for the World Affak *fleeting of
the Walton Woman's Institute (WI), held' on
August 31.
President Leona McDonald led the
'meeting, Marjorie Humphries was the
pianist and led a sing song. Viola Kirkby
read the current events.
Jean, Bewley showed slides of a trip she
and Mrs. Kirkby took last year to. England,
Ireland and Scotland.
After the guests left, the Walton WI
members held a short business meeting.
Ruth Axtmann and Marion Godkin agreed
to obtain the five articles for the child's bir-
thday party display at the Brussels Fall
Fair on September 17 and 18.
It was voted to host the county rally next
year. A reminder went out about the district
committee meeting, to be held in Gorrie on
September 19.
A caretaker is still needed for the Walton
WI Hall. Anyone interested in this position is
asked to contact the president or any WI
member.

Church News
Regular services resumed on Sunday at
Duff's United following the holidays of Bon-
nie Lamble.
Children are reminded that Sunday School
will begin on the second Sunday in
September.
The U.C.W. catered to 119 people to a beef
hot meal on Friday evening prior to the play
at the Blyth Festival.
Ball Tournament
The Squirt Ball Tournament at the Walton
Ball Park bgan on August 23. Walton -won
12-1 over Brodhagen and Winthrop over
Fordwich.
Due to the 'heavy rain Friday night the
tournament was cancelled Saturday and
Sunday. It will continue on Saturday,
September 7 at 9 a.m. There will be eight
games, played that day. Come out and see
your home team play.
Residents attend shower

LONDESBORO - Greeting the
congregation on August 25 were Rev. Snihur
and Dora 'Shobbrook. Kenneth Penfound,
Kevin Wright and Dennis and Gerben Wilts
served as ushers. The organist was Lisa
Duizer.
Rev. Snihur welcomed all to the service.
He gave the call to worship and he
announced that September 22 is designated
as Baptism Sunday. A bible was presented
to Erin Horbanuik on her graduation from
the junior congregation., The children's time
was spent singing while the sermon was
"Open my Eyes".

WI members Margaret Taylor and Beryl
Reid attended the Walton meeting on August
21.
Note the change in the September
meeting. The meeting will be held on
September 3 at 8 p.m. at the Hullett
Township Office in order to attend the
council meeting.
On August 19, 17 played shuffleboard at
the Tri -County District Games in St. Marys.
August 24 winners- were Jim and Gloria
McEwing with second place going to Jac
Lee and Audrey Thompson.
Dora Shobbrook, Joy Vodden and Bev
Riley attended a shower on August 25 for
Lisa Hugill of Lambeth. The shower was
held by Jean, Sue and Kelly Vodden at the
home of Sue and Kelly Vodden.

spent the weekend with John and Brenda
Radford and family.
Mr. and Mrs. Ken Hulley spent a three day
