Enterprising Seniors meet
By Blanche Deeves
HOLMESVILLE-The Enterprising
Seniors held a brief get together on August
15 in the community centre in Holmesville
with John Semple in charge.
Recently a benefit dance was held in the
community centre in Holmesville. Many
friends and neighbours of Mr. and Mrs.
Leihold were in attendance.
Sympathy of the community goes to the
families of the late Murray MacDougall •
formerly of Holmesville and Goderich
Township.
The first of the fall meetings of the Enter-
prising Seniors will be held September 51.at 8
p.m. in , the community centre , in
Holmesville.
Shape of things for fall
The important shape this fall is still the in-
verted triangle, with a wide base at the top
of the figure, narrowing to the hemline, says
Clothing and Textile Specialist Margaret
Loewen of the Ontario Ministry of
Agriculture and Food's rural organizations
and services branch.
For the av age woman, who is just the
opposite shape, ulder pads create an illu-
sion of the desired silhouette.
Daytime dresses in paisleys, wool jerseys
and challis along with softly -styled suits will
be popular.
The menswear influence is still strong this
fall, with exaggerated shapes and big unlin-
ed coats with padded shoulders.
Grey and charcoal will replace last year's
black. And watch for more plaids, twills and
stripes, alone or in combination. Buffalo
checks will continue to be popular.
One important new item to add this fall
is a loose°fitting blazer in off-white or winter
white. This gives dresses a double life, and
gives mix -and -snatch pants and skirts a
tailored, yet feminine look.
Try 'adding shoulder pads to any of last
year's garments with roomy shoulders and
armholes. It can give a whole new look for
fall '84.
