relatives ars 'former'teachers, students, "
classmates and neighbours. It hrouOitikOk
the past. and all those fond memories.
Although, as one person who was overheard
at the school displays commented that it
was nice to look back but he would not want
to have to relive those tunes. It helped to
reinforce the reality that the people in We
,township were a mixture of a large number
of nationalities and that thisprovided
freshness of ideas and strength. Finally the
week was an occasion to show everyone just
what makes its residents so proud to live
there.
The very successful 1-5-0 week has now
been over for a few weeks. People have been
talking about the parade, variety show,
sports activities, barbecue, church service
and the list grows and grows. Unfortunately
one could not attend every event, there was
just too much going on. In this technological
world we are 'blessed with equipment that
can record everything you do and most of
the events were videotaped, photographed
and recorded. These will be the account off
the way it was in 1985 for future township
descendents and residents.
At the 1-5-0 meeting on August 7, it was
decided to relive the special events since
many chairpersons were busy preparing for
or cleaning up after an event which meant
they regrettably missed a lot. ,The parade
alone had more people in it than actually
live in Holmesville itself and those on the
floats would have like to see the other floats.
Some wanted to go on the bus tours but could
not. Also people said they were unable to
order their copy of the Families of Goderich
Township book that is being completed now.
Two Goderich Township SUMMER OF '85
afternoons are planned for August 25 and
September 8 from 1- 5 p.m: at the Goderich
Township Community Centre: If anyone has
any videotapes, pictures or albums made of
the parade, Easter service or fashion show
you are invited' to bring them for sharing
with people who are anxious to view them on
August 25. The bus tour A (westernarea)
will be held again and leave the Community
Centre at 3 p.m. On September 8 people's
records of the school displays, variety show
and heritage service will be seen from 1 - 5
p.m. and bus tour 13 (eastern area) will
leave at.3 p.m. In addition if people wish to
order their copy of the families bookor pro-
ofread their family's section they may do so
on either day.
Anyone, whether a resident or not, who
wishes to attend the SUMMER OF '85 after-
noons is invited. If people have things to
share please bring Ahem, they will be
greatly appreciated. Those who wish to
order their tickets for either bus tour should
phone 524-4W3 or 524-7436.
