Hospital where she underwent eye surgery.
Mr. and Mrs. Torn Lawlor were dinner
guests of Mr. and Mrs. Reg Schultz Cliff and
Donald on Sunday.
Mrs. Tom Hallam is in Alexandra Marine
and General Hospital in Goderich, following
surgery. She is wished a speedy recovery.

commence again on Aug. 11 at 10 a,m.

and April and Marjorie McDougall attended
the Campbell - Wills wedding held at Baptist
Church, Aylmer on Saturday.

Drive" will be collecting bottles on
Wednesday, Aug. 21 at 10 to 11 a.m. Funds to
go to Haitian Foster Child. Please help this

Elva Striughan of Auburn will celebrate
her 95th birthday at the home of her
daughter, Annie and son-in-law, Clayton
Robertson of Meaford. Her daughter, Ruth
Jardin and son-in-law, Tom Jardin will also
be there to help her celebrate this happy
occasion. Congratulations Elva.
Visitors recently with Mrs. Joe Postill
were her cousins; Mildred Garrett of Clinton

A family gathering was held on Sunday,
August 11 at the home of Mr. and Mrs.
Kenneth W heeler. Guests included; Mr. and
Mrs. Vincent Makes and Alicia of London,
Mr. and Mrs. Riiliert `Taylor, Erica and
Monica of Alliston, Mr. and Mrs. Don Rae,
Jamie and. Ian of Guelph, Mr. and Mrs. Tim
Coultes of W ingham, Mr. and Mrs. Bruce
Campbell, Andrew, Christopher, Collin,
Matthew and Travis, and Clifford Coultes all
of RR 1, Belgrave.
4-H LESSON
The fourth meeting of the Blyth Veteri-
nary Club was held July) 31, at the Blyth
Public School. The 4-H leader, Dr. Clark,
discussed several different respiratory di-
seases found in cattle, swine, and horses.
Several different sets of lungs were also
viewed and discussed. A .past mortem was
performed on a pig by Dr. Clark and the
cause . of death was found to be kidney
infection.
The next meeting will be held August 29
at 8 p.m. at the home of Ken Ramsey.
Examinations will be held at that time.
PEOPLE
Mr. and Mrs. Americo Arruda and
Michelle of Toronto and Shawn Logan of
Burlington .were weekend visitors with her
another Dorothy Logan. Michelle and Shawn
Stamps help Oxfam
WINGHAM - Beginning last January,
staff opening mail in the Wingham District
Office began tearing off the cancelled
postage stamps and saving them. Once a
sizeable number were accumulated,' they
were sent to Oxfam -Canada.
Oxfam -Canada sells 150 gram bags of on -
paper mixtures of Canadian, British,
Australian and world stamps for $5 to $9,
depending on the package.
' Offices, church groups, clubs and
classrooms have organized to save stamps
from incoming mail. The stamps are for-
warded to Ottawa for sorting by 20
volunteers. In 1983-84, $6000. was raised
through this program; only in its third year.

90th Birthday celebrated
BLYTH - An open house was held at the
Blyth Legion Hall on July 28, for Elizabeth
Machan to celebrate her 90th birthday.
Friends and relatives were present to
extend their best wishes.
Family members were present from
London, Toronto, Brucefield, Goderich,
Seaforth, Blyth and surrounding area.
Mrs. Machan was born in Austin,
Michigan on July 31, 1895 and later moved to
Monkton. She has lived a great number of
years in Blyth and surrounding area and
presently lives at the Queens Villa in Blyth.
She is the daughter of the late Mr. and Mrs.
Charles Riehl. She has two sisters, Mrs.
Mary Sieling, Blyth and Mrs. Sophia
Glousher of Goderich, daughter-in-law,
Selena Machan of Blyth, seven
grandchildren, 19 great-grandchildren and
one great -great-grandchild. She has lost her
husband, Alfred Machan, one son and two
daughters.
