Under the direction of the General
Manager the Watershed Planning and
Community Relations Co-ordinator is
responsible for the implementation of
the Watershed Plan and Community
Relations Program. These . programs
involve communication activities aimed
at various target audiences to enable
the Conservation Authority to progress
toward the attainment of its goals and
objectives as set out in the Watershed
Plan.
SPECIFIC DUTIES INCLUDE:
1) updating the Watershed Plan through
resource inventory work;
2) implementing a program of public input;
3) development of personal and non.
personal methods of communication
including
a) annual report, news releases,
brochures, tabloids, newsletters, and
other print media
b) electronic media
c) seminars, workshops, and the provision
of resource people for presentations
to community groups
d) conservation education in the school
system
e) preparation and implementation of
marketing strategy including
advertising, promotion, and
interpretation
QUALIFICATIONS:
The successful applicant will ideally:
1) have graduated from a University or
Community College In either a resource
management:related discipline or in
communications or possess equivalent;
2) possess a good understanding of
resources management principles and
communications theory
3) possess excellent writing and
communication skills
4) ability to prepare budgets and reports
5) ability to work with and supervise staff
