The annual Shortreed reunion was held o1i
S1Mcla-y, July 28, at the farm of Clifford
Couites,
Approximately 60 relatives from Walton,
Uderton, W mgham, Shelburne and London
enjoyed good weather and a fine pot -luck
supper. Next year's reunion is to be held at
the farm home of Mr. and Mrs, Jach Brown of
Blyth.
Local folk in attendance included Mr. and
Mrs. Elgin Johnston,- Robert Johnston,
Graeme Johnston and friend, and Mrs. Lou
Shortreed of W ingham, Alice Scott, Mr. and
Mrs. Murray Scott. of Belgrave, and Ian,
Ralph, and Lorne Scott of RR 3 Blyth.
Wilfred Shortreed of Walton expressed
' appreclation on behalf of the group.

of Tillsonburg came home recently after
Caldwell - Ulch
The lawn of Earl and Margaret Caldwell
was the setting for the wedding of their
granddaughter Gail Caldwell to Ron Ulch on
Jury 6. Rev. Ken Bauman officiated. The
maid of honor was Sherri Govier, friend of
the bride and bridesmaids were Cindy Mac-
Donald, sister of the groom and Lorna
Fraser, sister of the bride. Best man was
Paul Mclntosh, friend of the groom and
ushers were Roger Ulch, brother of the
groom and Trent Caldwell, brother of the
bride. The junior bridesmaids were Jackie
Caldwell, sister of the bride and Kathy
Fraser, niece of the bride. Merril Govier,
niece of the groom was flowergirl. A wed-
ding reception was held at the Blyth Com-
munity Centre, The couple honeymooned in
northern Ontario and now live in Dungan-
non.

Bruinsma - Caldwell
Ron Bruinsma and Karen Lynn Caldwell
were married at the Blyth United Church on
May 31. The double ring ceremony was per-
formed by Rev. B. DeJong of Exeter. The
groom is the son of Mr. and Mrs. Cecil
Bruinsma of RR 4, Goderich and the bride is
the daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Ralph
Caldwell of RR 3, Blyth. Maid of honor was
Darlene Hunking of Auburn and the
bridesmaids were Karen Bruinsma of
Goderich, Joan Klemke of Centralia and
Lisa Rodger of Auburn. The flowergirl was
Kristy Caldwell of Blyth and the
ringbearer was Jeremy Slotegraaf of
Lucknow. Best man was. George Reinink of
Londesboro and ushers were Jeff Bruinsma
of London, Stephen Caldwell of Blyth and
Paul Schelhaas of London. Music was pro-
vided by organist Margaret Kai of
Wingham, pianist Connie Bos of Clinton and
soloist, Cheryl Cronin of Blyth. The
newlyweds honeymooned at the Muskoka
Lakes. They now live at 95 Brock St.,

Students
pass exams
Twenty-three area music students recent-
ly received word that they successful passed
written exams in piano theory. The ex-
aminations, conducted by the University of
Toronto Royal Conservatory of Music were
tried in May in Blyth. Shirley Vincent of
Blyth co-ordinated the exams.
One local student, Ilene Gayle • Poore of
Blyth earned one of the highest marks in the
testing, with a 91, to receive First Class
Honors in Grade 2 Rudiments.
Also earning First Class Honors in Grade
2 Rudiments were Lori Hayter, Julie
Webster, Robert Earl. Adams, Susan L.
Murphy, Lorenda Ann Maaskant and Arlene
Joan Boyd. David Small earned an Honors
mark and Paas grades went to Dori Daer
and Loretta Marie Brandon.
In Grade 4 Theory Counterpoint, First
Class Honors went to Wendy J. Martin. In
Grade 3 Theory Harmony, Lisa Marjorie
Duizer earned First Class Honors.
In Grade 1 Rudiments First Class Honors
went to Karen Denise Vand'onkersgoed, Jen-
nifer Ann Jewitt and Melanie S. Koch. Kim
Fritz earned an Honors mark.
In Preliminary . Rudiments First Class
Honors went to Shelly Hayter, Janet
McBeath, Janet Coleman, Krista Rathwell,
Susan Carter, Faye Anne Love and Nancy
Webster.

Dr. Taylor accompanied Trudy and Moth
for a weeks vacation with his parents- Mr.
and Mrs. Jack Taylor of Belgraye. They also
visited with other relatives.

Gauvin visited on July 24 with his sister Mrs.

Blyth dinner
in August
The kitchens of members of the Blyth
Festival's Board of Directors are , buzzing
with activity these days as they prepare for .
their annual Gourmet Dinner. It will be held
on Saturday, Aug.' 24 at 6. p.m. at the Blyth
Community Centre.
This year's organizers have given the
traditional menu a few twists by focusing on
"Huron County Gourmet". Do you
remember your grandmother's potato pie?
corned beef? chili sauce? elderberry pie?
These will be a small part of a delicious,
four -course meal featuring new dishes as
well as favorites of other years like Lake
Huron white fish, broccoli -cauliflower
cheesebake, numerous salads, home-made
