BELGRAVE-An open house was held at
the home of Mr, and Mrs. Bill Davis of Strat-
ford on July 21 in honor of his father Ken
Davis' 85th birthday, Mr. Davis' sister Mrs.
Harold Down, also of Stratford, who
celebrates her 80th birthday on August 6,
was also honored.
Many relatives and friends of the
celebrants were present to extend their best
wishes.
Family members attending Were from
Stratford, Waterloo, Teeswater, Brampton
and Belgrave. Other guests attended from
Tillsonburg, London, Ancaster, Rothray and
Mitchell.
Mr. Davis spent most of his life in Strat-
ford. In 1981 he took up residence in
Belgrave and lived there until February of
this year when he moved to the Woodley
Rest Home at R.R. 1, Wroxeter.

Mary Hawkins aria Loins Kotorich of
Windsor visited from Monday to Saturday
with Mrs. Sam Fear. They also called on
other relatives in the area and attended two
plays at the Blyth Festival.
Mr. and Mrs. Bert Johnston attended the
Johnston reunion, held in the Bluevale Park
July 28. Cousins were present from Bolton,

WALTON-The second annual Walton
Ladies' Slo Pitch Tournament was held at
the Walton Park on July 26 and 27. Teams
participating were from Holmesville, Mit-
chell, Monkton, Walton, Dublin, Brodhagen,
Trowbridge and Brussels.
The "A" Championship of $120 was won
by Dublin. The "A" runners-up prize of $75.
was won by Monkton, the "8" Champion-
ship of $100. was won by Brodhagen and
Walton got the runner-up "B" Champion-
ship prize of $60.
The sports recreation served a beef
barbecue and the evening finished up with a
display of fireworks.
About People
Judi and Dave Weisbrod have had visitors
from the West coat. Dave's mother Irene
Sutton has been visiting for two weeks and
Judi's parents Myron and Marjory Bruce
'visited and will return on their way back
home to Nova Scotia in September.

Baintoneers host ladies fastball to
BLYTH - Eighteen teams from all parts of
Ontario will be competing for $1,300 in prize
money during the Fourth Annual Ladies'
Fastball Tournament to be held in Blyth
from August 2-4. Teams from Burlington,
Kitchener, Sheffield, London, West
Wawanosh, Goderich, Seaforth and
Woodstock will take to the diamond, not only
• competing for money, but for team trophies
and individual awards as well.
There will also be nightly entertainment
on August 2 and .3 with Professional Rock
Deer seasons
for 1985
announced
WINGHAM - The 1985 deer seasons for
Wingharn District were recently announced.
Unit 86 (Perth County) Ontario residents,
archery only - Qctober 21 to December 8.
Unit 85 ( Huron County and Minto
Township in Wellington County) Archery
Season - October 21 to November 3,
November 8 to December 8. Four' day
shotgun and muzzle loader season -
November 4 to November 7. This is a con-
trolled deer hunt in which all •participants
must have their deer licence validated by a
,special tag. • Farmers and landowners of
20.24 ha (50 acres) or •more are eligible to
receive a tag. Other Ontario residents must
enter their names in a lottery type draw for
a limited number of validation tags. Ap-
plications for this hunt will be available
from the Wingham District Office after
August 1, 1985. The application deadline for
the draw is August 30, 1985. Farmers and
landowners should apply before October 25,
1985.
Controlled deer .hunts have been held in
Huron County since 1980. Eleven hundred
and eight hunters received tags in 1984 and
223 deer were harvested. The largest deer
harvested was approximately 103 kg ( 227
lbs.) live weight.

Duff's United Church: Graeme Craig sang a
sole and accompanied himself on the guitar.

while Bonnie Lambie is on vacation. Plans
are being made for the Anniversary Service
on September 15, The one day conference
for Alma College is August 19. •

purchased the home of Art LeFabre who is

Mr. and Mrs. Dave Thiesson, Janice and
Daniel, Missionary Chapel 'minister, are
leaving for London. Mrs. Thiesson is
working at University Hospital London and
Dave is furthering his education. His' last
sermon was Sunday, July 21.

Thiessons Thursday,,July 25 at the home of
Jim and Marilyn Campbell. Gifts were
presented to the Thiessons.
Mac Bennett, whose wife is the former
Georgina Lochart of Auburn, passed away'
in Windsor.
