M'ONT OAL - In releeitt years, political
tinalysts'have been setting the `Doomsday
Clock'. It is usually thought that it is ticking
out mankind's last days on earth.
That subject'lyas highlighted yesterday in
the principal speech of the four-day
ntegritr Keepers' district convention of
ehovah s iWitnesses held at the Olympic
Stadium, iinMontreal.
According- to Walter Gardiner,
spokesman for the Witnesses in the Clinton
area, 78;804 persons were present -at the
final session to hear Daniel Sydlik speak on
the subject "God's Times and Seasons,— to.
What Do They Point?" •
Sydlik said that a nuclear holocaust
should not bethe nations' main concern. The
'Doomsday Clock' denoteshow close we are
to nuclear war and potential annihilation.
He asserted we should be more concerned
about God's clock and assessing the times
and seasons frown his point of view.
Sydlik said God bas a destination for this
earth and for human life on it. He has a pur-
pose for these; otherwise,he would not have
created them. "And that purpose is certain
to be accomplished right on schedule. And
for that reason, we need to ask: What time
and season is it from God's viewpoint?"
"We are very deep into the final part of
the 'last days"', was Sydli 's answer. "All
of Jehovai}'s
fact thht we are near -
`tem of things. Thus,

timetable points,to til
Mg the end of this s
earthshaking events are to take place in the
immediatefuture."
He implied that when God decides to act,
nothing can stop hitt. Divine intervention,
he said, based upon God's own timetable.
"Today, the nations keep spending more
and more on armaments. The cost has risen
to more than a trillion dollars a year", he
said.
In answer to the question, 'What time is it
from God'sviewpoint?', the `speaker
declared: "It is closing time for this world.

The Poelman famUly Bible has been loan-
ed to the church irl'order to display it on the
communion table in the front of the sanc-

symbolizes the spiritual heritage of many
members of the church. Although the Dutch
language is not used for preaching, many of
the older members of the church still ap-
preciate reading and speaking Dutch. A
large English Bible, the New International
Version, will be placed on the pulpit and be
used for preaching.
On July 14, the congregation and summer
visitors heard about 'The Great Defense'
based on Matthew 10:32-33. Rev. Hegeman
explained that Jesus, the great divine
lawyer, defends his people and that his peo-
ple should defend Jesus in this world. To
deny Jesus is a crime against him. In the
evening service the theme was `Yoked
Together'. Christians are yoked together
with the gospel in order to. work together for
the Master who continually calls us. This
was based on Matthew 11:28-30.
The congregation was greeted by a letter
from Rev. Samplonius who will be coming
