Con- nell in 1930. A dam was built on the creek and a pond was formed leaving an island at the shallow end of the pond. Boats, canoes and fishin were available to the vacationer. A stoe marked drive led the way to parking on the upper level of ground. As well, on the upper level was a baseball diamond, and. football field. On the lower grounds cabins were built. Washroom facilities with a flush toilet were accommodated by a spring -fed water line. A playground with swings, slide and merry- go-round entertained the children. As well, there were horseshoe pits and other sports. The riding stables provided horses and three ponies to ride. In the barn upstairs, one side was fitted with tongue and groove flooring for a dance floor. The other side had tables, work cupboard and a cook stove. The concession booth at the gate was busy with families on a picnic for a day, with S.S. picnics, with organizational picnics, with vacationers renting a cabin for a holiday, with family reunions and other functions as well. This summer residence of the Connell's was a busy summer resort. Mr. Connell passed away Dec. 31, 1935 and after that the grounds were closed. Mr. and Mrs. Connell, the former Adeline Dale, (hence the name "Connodale") had two children, Myrtle, Mrs. Fred Tyndall, and Clarence.
