Sallows Sallows Depiction of an Agricultural Era: Reuben *lows (1855-1937) created in- valuable records with his photographs of a way of life and times. We are very fortunate that many of his photos were taken in this immediate area - Goderich, Colborne And Stanley Townships. His photo are some of the very first taken of people doing ordinary, everyday tasks such as milking, haying and even shaving. Onemust remember that a photographer in those days did not carry a small pocket camera which made it easy to records one's "precious' moments" (as the adver- tisements suggest). Sallows worked with a heavy box style camera, glass -plate negatives (as large as 6 x 8 inches), and a tripod - which would be essential since his exposure time could be in the minutes rather than seconds!
