look of its own.
A beautifully remodeled stone home from the 1850s eta which overlooks the Maitland
River (CMt/,L3). A community once thrived here, called Piper's Dam, complete with grist
mill, carding mill, brewery, flour mill, distillery and several residences. Now all that re-
mains is this home, owned by Dr. David and Sally Walker and family.
This is the oldest ORIGINAL home in Godericb Township. Presently owned by Michael
and Kate Moriarty, the front portion is a 16' x 24' log cabin which was built in the 1830s by
George Weston. (C5/L34)
The "Pebble House" on Hwy. 8 near Clinton was built about 1856 by Robert Cooke from
15,000 egg-shaped well -matched stones carried from the shores of Lake Huron. The stones
were set into two foot thick masonry. (CHR/L7)
An imposing Dlrick house built about 1860 of Italianate design, this home has been owned
by Stan and Marjorie Freeman for 23 years. (CMt/L7, Hwy. 8). It has 18 rooms and is white
3 -ply brick designed with 10 marble fireplaces - seven still there. It has only changed hands
four times - built by Alexander Hawley, it was then purchased by Curzons, transferred to
their nephew, Lithgow, purchased by Larder, and then Freemans.
This residence, owned and remodelled by Garth and Pat Postill, is wen -known locally�as
Tipperary School (SS No. 9, C10/L36). The brick building was constructed in 1937. J
