THE HARBOUR IN 1867
The Port of Goderich has a long history as a grain transfer point.
In 1866, the Grand Trunk Railway constructed the first Goderich Grain Elevator, with
storage for 60,000 bu. Foreseeing the Port of Goderich as a major transportation link
to the east coast. •
A VITAL LINK TO EXPORT MARKETS
In the 1970's as Ontariobecame an exporter of locally grown crops, Goderich
Elevators became involved.
Today these export shipments of Ontario corn, wheat and barley to many parts of the
world accounts for more than 50% of our business. When work is completed, In early
1986, of deepening of the Harbour, sea going vessels will be able to load to maximum
draft in Goderich.
WE'RE MOVING AHEAD IN THE 80'S
We have mode many improvements and modifications at our elevators and we shall
continue to make changes so that our customers will know their product is well handled, and
, efficiently distributed. After all we have more than 100 years experience, and concerns
through changing times and changing needs and 100 years from now, chances are you will
still find Goderich Elevators Limited playing a vital role in the grain business.
