DEAR GODERICH TOWNSHIP FRIENDS:
, On the occasion of Goderich Township's sesquicentennial "I take pleasure in extending
greetings and congratulations from the Legislative Assembly of Ontario.
Obviously Goderich Township has changed considerably over the past 150 years. Yet the
same spirit,of community pride and consideration for neighbours which helped to forge the
Township still prevail today.
Those early pioneers had to cope with incredible odds as they established themselves in
what must frequently have seemed to be a hostile land. Certainly coping with the rigours of
a Canadian Winter must have been extremely unpleasant without all the modern-day
benefits which we now enjoy.
The qualities of courage, determination, self-respect and public concern were important in
those early days, as they are today. c
Change in direction along wih modern technology have .evolved over the years which
gives •us new challenges and hurdles, but without these we would not progress and grow.
The true spirit of such growth is evident in the work undertaken by the many people who
_ have joined together to pay tribute to our forefathers and encourage young and old alike to
continue the task undertaken by those who had faith and worked so diligently.
Again, I take pleasure in congratulating all those past and present whohave worked
together to. keep Goderich Township a place in which we have much to be proud of. I'm sure
the future will attest to that.
Sincerely,
Tack Riddell, M.P.P.
