Caldwell shared the Blyth Boat Trophy.
A total of $500 was made and will be
donated to the Blyth Minor Hockey pro-

gram.
The tournament committee offers many
thanks to the many people and businesses
who donated prizes.
Reunion plans
almost done
BLYTH - The Huron Pioneer Threshers
and Hobby Association is still looking for
pictures and tidbits about the club to add to
their book and commemorate their 25th an-
niversary.
The club held a members meeting on July
6 in the shed at the fairgrounds with Presi-
dent Raymond Hallahan opening . the
meeting.
One of the topics discussed was the
possibility of holding an antique auction sale
during their reunion.. Discussion and a vote.
decided they were not interested in the addi-
tionalevent.
Plans for the 1985 show are in the final
stages, The Friday will be dedicated to
senior citizens and handicapped with the
Ontario Provincial Police Band from Toron-
to performing on the grounds as well as
downtown during the afternoon.,
That -evening at 7:30 there will be a Fiddle
Jamboree with John Brent acting as master
of ceremonies.
Bea Hauston gave a report of the bus trip
which the club -members took to Wauseon,
Ohio on June 29.

Johnston -Akins descendents meet

BELGRAVE-The annual Johnston -Akins
family reunion was held July 7 at the
Belgrave Women's Institute Hall. Thirty
descendants attended from Wingham,
Belgrave, Jamestown, Ilderton, Denfield,
London, West - Mountrose, Woodstock,
Hickson, Belle River and Windsor.
Nancy Long and Cameron Simmons
brought their carnival games and Kevin
Johnston 'and Bruce Higgins conducted
some games for the youngsters.
The youngest attending was 13 -month-old
Robin Crutcher, daughter of Mr. and Mrs.
Tony Crutcher of West Mountrose. Adeline

minutes and treasurer's report.

Bruce Higgins and Kevin Johnston, games
committee.
Shower Held
Thursda-y evening a community shower
was held for DianneScott.
Arlene McKeon helped welcome guests
with•her mother Nancy McKeon.
Debbie Ross, Sarwh McKeon and Dianne
Ross performed Highland dancing. Margie
Gordon; Candice Irwin .and Lindsay Michie
did a baton routine.
Alice Nicholson livened the evening with
her readings and Pam Shaw sang.
Dianne was assisted in opening her gifts
by Caroline and Lorna Humphrey and Bren-
da White. Dianne's mother Freda and Kay
McWhirter, the groom-to-be's mother also
helped. .

Mr. and Mrs. David Hanna, Joanne and
Susan and Mr. and Mrs. Ronald Hanna all of
North Battleford, Saskatchewan returned to
theirhomes after spending the week with
Mr. and Mrs. Clarence Hanna. The Hannas.
celebrated their 60th wedding anniversary
on June 28.

educational visit and exchange program in

4-H members from the four clubs in Huron
County will be competing in a Horse Show.
The Annual Show will be held on Saturday,
July 13, at Dungannon Fairgrounds.
Showmanship and Equitation are the two
major classes, but the members will also be
involved in trail, gaming, and fun classes.
There will be prizes, and attendance at
this event / contributes to horse club
members total score and promises to be a
lot of fun.

Charlie and Elaine Cunimings, Saskatoon,
Saskatchewan, greetings from Reta Nixon,
London, and a letter from Stan and Evelyn
Shobbrook in Victoria, B.C.
It was moved to have a reunion next year
on the first Sunday after the July 1 holiday.
Bill Gibbings announced the officers for
1986. Past Presidents are Gordon and "
Darlene Shobbrook, Presidents, Charlie and
Shirley Shobbrook; Vice-presidents, -Cliff
and Kay Saundercock; Secretary -treasurer,
Thelma Ellerby; nominating, Beth Knox;
and sports, Ross and Muriel Mi ison.
A get well card was signed by all for
Stanley Shobbrook. The oldest person pre-.
seat was Laura Saundercock at 90 years of
agynd the youngest was Curtis Blake at
five weeks. Coming farthest to attend the
reunion was Edna Stemler from Pilot
Mound, Manitoba.
Sports were conducted by Bill, and Verna
Gibbings and Missie Gibbings. In the girls'
five and under division, Ashley Gibbings
won; girls eight . and under, Kelly Peck;
boys eight and under, Michael Gibbings;
girls 12 and under, Melanie Knox; and boys
12 and under, Michael Gibbings. First in the
ladies' division was `Melanie Knox and se-
cond Julie Shobbrook, and in the men's, first
place was taken by Brad Shobbrook and
Wayne Peck took second.
In more sports, Michael Gibbings won the
boys' and girls' throw shoe and Christopher
Knox came in second. The ladies division
was won by Janice Andrews while Brad
Shobbrook won the men's. Thelma Ellerby
took ,the clothes pins in the bottle competi-
tion. Edna Stemler came closest to guessing
the correct number of jelly beans while
Dean Shobbrook won the hit the nail com-
petition. A relay race and a peanut scram-
ble were also held.
Members present were from Pilot Mound,
Manitoba, Toronto, Port Colborne,
Woodstock, London, Galt, Wingham,.
Goderich, Blyth and Londesboro.
Riley Reunion
The families of Ben and Selina Riley held
a reunion at Hullett Central School on the
afternoon of July 7. About 80 people attend-
ed from • London, Mactier, Goderich,
Georgetown, Kincardine, Bayfield, Tiver-
-ton, Kitchener, Owen Sound and Clinton.
United Church
An outdoor service was held at Lions
Park, Seaforth on July 7. Rev. Dave Snihur
welcomed all and said ,the flowers ,were in
mefnory of .fire Neilans and Gary Wilts.
Old-time favorite hymns were sang and
John Jewitt played the bagpipes. Vacation
Bible School was held from July 2-6 with a
good attendance. On closing day, cake,
cookies and juice were served to children
and parents.
Personals
Mrs. Edwin Wood and Mildred McNall
received word of the death of their cousin
Rev. Stephen Mathers of Toronto on July 6,
age 89. Rev. Mathers spent many years in
this community with the Gray family.
Congratulations to John Armstrong on
celebrating his 89th birthday on July 5.
Mr. and Mrs. Tom Allen attended the wed-
ding of his nephew James Cornish and
Sheryl Mair in London, June 29.
Mr. and Mrs. Frank Johnston, Jacqueline
and Anetta Van Manssenhoven-spent the
past week in Algonquin Park.
Visiting last week with Mrs. Joe Shaddick
were Edith Lockart, Goderich and Mr. and
Mrs. John Shier, Kincardine/
Mr. and Mrs. Colin Paterson and Katie of
London spent the weekend with her parents,
Mr. and Mrs. Bob Burns.
Beth Knox visited on the weekend with her

Friday to Tuesday with their grandparents
