Reunion brings together 130 relatives

BELGRAVE -.The 40th anniversary of the
annual Nethery-Leishman reunion was held
June 23 at the Community Hall, Londesboro
with 130 signing the register.
Guests were present from Calgary.
Thunder Bay, Beaverton, Burlington, -
Hamilton, Niagara Falls, Mississau�;
Brampton, Bolton, Brantford, Oakville, In-
gersoll, London, Mitchell, Exeter, Goderich,
Auburn, Clinton, Wingham, Bluevale.
Londesboro and surrounding district.
'A musical tattoo by members of the
Brussels Pipe Band and songs by the Snell
family was performed. Mr. and Mrs.
George Ives of Blyth were in charge of the
sports.
Alex Nethery of Burlington showed slides
of old reunion movies and a ,group
photograph was taken by Edward Gallagher
of Kitchener.
Following the supper hour. the president
Alvin Gallagher of Kitchener took charge of
the meeting. •
• He announced the deaths during the past
year, Edwin Johnston, Gabrial Warga,
Charlie Scanlon, .Dorothy Black, Albert
" Shaddick, Abner 'Nethery, ,Jack Noble and
H 'bei' Nethery.
Alex Nethery of Burlington gave a history
of the Nethery family and Isabel Garniss.

Special prizes were given out by Alvin
Gallagher to the person who is 80 years old
this year. Mrs:rcy Barker of Goderich,
youngest person present, Kerrie Snell of
Mitchell; person coming the longest

most recently married -Mr. and Mrs. Dan
MacDonald of Brantford; the couple mar-
ried 40 years, Mr. and Mrs. Edward McGill

Graduation
The East Wawanosh Grade 8 Graduation
was a great success. Dinner was served to
the graduates head table guests, parents
and grandparents at the Women's Institute
Hall on June 24 and a program of entertain-
ment followed.
Heather Morton and Linda Versteeg
played the piano and Mr. Chaulk entertain-
ed with his selections on the piano. Jacque
Van Camp and Joanne Olson sang.
The program was then turned over to
John Chipps who talked about getting the
most out of education in future years.
Certificates, awards and diplomas were
recieved by Mike Wattam, .Stephen White,
Jeff Scott, Bryan Ramsey, Jim Fenton, Jeff
Pletch, Jason Coultes, 'Shawn Campbell,
Linda Versteeg, Jacque Van Camp, Joanne
Olson, Heather Marton, Gayle Campbell
and Yvonne Brewer.
The graduation came to a close with a
bang at the school at 11 p.m. after a two hour
dance, complete with balloons and falling
confetti.
The students were glad to be moving on
but also sad to be leaving.
50 Years Wed.
On May 15, 1935 at the Baptist Church
, Manse in Listowel, Ruby Lennox and
Clarence Hanna were united in marriage by.
the Re'. Stanley Baeaet. Stanley Lennox,
brother of the bride and Evelyn Hanna
sister of the groom were their only atten-
dants.

LONIDUBORO 'Tour Sunday, July 7 the
LondeStioro United Church service will be
held at the Lions lark in Seaforth, at 11 a.m.
The family service will feature a pot luck
'lunch, followed by games for all ages.
Vacation Bible School in Londesboro got
underway this week, July 2 at the church.
The Sunday service on June 30 included a
pancake breakfast, followed by a hymn
sing, led by Rev. Snihur and organist Lisa
Duizer.
Rev. Snihur and John Lawson greeted the
congregation and the ushers were Shannon
Duizer, Denise Gross, Joanne Wilts and
Melanie Knox. "

Village residents. were shocked to learn of
the sudden death of Londesboro resident
Jim Neilans, 79. Funeral services were held
on June 30 from the Tasker Funeral Home,
Blyth. •
Sympathy is extended to Mr. and Mrs.
Gerrit Wilts and family on the accidental
death of their son Gary, 18. He was killed on
Sunday in a motorcycle -car crash at.
Highway 4 and Concession 4, West
Wawanosh Township.
Sympathy also goes out to Jean Fox on the
death of her father, George Heibein, 89, of
Brussels.

Seniors visit Huronview
On June 29, 16 members of the Happy
Gang Senior Citizens Club took part in the
seniors' month festivities at Huronview. The
day was highlighted by supper and enter-
tainment by Earl and Martha Heywood.
The Happy Gang Seniors have been in-
vited to take part in the Goderich Township
sesquicentennial events. The Enterprising
Seniors extended the invitation and sug-
gested that an event of particular interest
would be the guided bus tours throughout
the township. The bus trips will run on
Wednesday, July 17, leaving the
Holmesville School at 6 p.m.
Other events include a the beef barbecue
on Friday, July 19, followed by a variety
show.
