O -4°d8�sr Land Speculation - In 1853 Christopher Sperling, to whom this letter Is addressed, and his brother George, were buying land In Tuckersmith in anticipation of the railroad running through. The land referred to In the letter was sold at a sheriff's sale after Col. Anthony Van Egmond dled In jail In 1838 following William Lyon McKenzie's rebellion. Later Mr. Sperling bought It from the letter writer, Lawrence Laurason. After the railway purchased some of the Sperling land fora right of way, three lawyers bought more Sparling land and had It surveyed into a town plot. It was registered In the name of Seaforth In 1855. • Reporter visits... From page 45 door to show how neatly she makes up her own bed.
