Annexation.
of Egmondville
(October 31, 1884 Expositor)
W e understand there is a very strong
feeling among the people of Egmondville for
the annexation of Seaforth. They feel that
there are many advantages which they would
enjoy if their village should be united to
Seaforth. Some people of Egmondville feel
deprived, and owing to the situation as well
as the identity of interest between the two
places, they feel that they should be one
municipality.
The present time is particularly opportune,
so far as Egmondville is concerned. They
need a new public school building and they
need joint funding to erect it.
W hile annexation might be mutually
advantageous to Egmondville and Seaforth,
the greater advantages should accrue to the
former. If the people of the village desire the
change they should take the initiative. Let
them devise a scheme and lay it before the
Seaforth council. If not they should take their
own militant action to make their concerns
known. In 1985 annexation is unpopular
because everything is cheaper in Egmond-
ville. Their taxes, hydro and water are all
cheaper than if they went along and joined
Seaforth.
