Clinton boy Hi .Lori, Found your balloon while we were out for a walk. It was on a road -side about one half mile from our house. I found it May 14th. I looked up Clinton and found it's quite a ways from here. We live near Watkins Glen, N.Y. About two and a half miles south of the town. If you look on the southern end of Seneca Lake (one of the Finger Lakes) you will see Watkins Glen, N.Y. I think releasing balloons is an interesting oject. A few years ago I found another balloon and returned it. Who knows; you may find one from our area sometime. The school children here released them this year. Am returning the balloon also as it's in- teresting the way it was found. Almost looks like someone cut it to make a fringe. Hope a lot of your balloons are returned. Good Luck Lori! It seems to reflect the friendly and cooperative spirit that is within a comrnuni- ty.• A parade has been planned in Holmesville on July 20 for Goderich Township's 1-5-0 celebrations to say HAPPY 150th GODERICH TOWNSHIP. The parade committee chairperson, Bill Lobb, has been working hard to make sure it will contain a good variety of floats and bands. He is assisted by committee members: Jack Tebbutt, Bill Crawford, David Orr, ,Jane McClinchey and George Bacon. They have been planning for the last six months to make everything run smoothly for the sesquicentennial parade. The route chosen by the committee begins at the new Township Shed. All people par- ticipating in the parade are asked to be there andready by 11:00 a.m. for judging. The parade will begin at 1:00 p.m. sharp. It will travel North, from the shed, turn left at the Community Centre and then turn right on the Cut Line to head towards the store. It will head East along the old Highway 8 route and disperse at the Township Ball Park. Lobb said they enlisted. the assistance of the Goderich C:B. Club for a communications network. Judges are from the three area television stations and some local municipal leaders. Monetary prizes will be awarded to the first three winners in each classification. All children on decorated bicycles will receive a token of gratitude for their efforts. Par- ticipation and quality floats will certainly be rewarded by the comm;ttee. Lobb reported that over 50 floats already are registered. The majority are from peo- ple out of the Township. He encourages the Township residents to submit their entries as promptly as possible. At least six Shriner units have confirmed their participation. Bands are favourites of the spectators and five definitely will add their talents to the event. Antique cars, light and heavy horses and children on decorated bicycles.will also he included. Interest has been expressed to have family floats as a separate registration category and the committe has now an addi- tional category for all those families who wish to enter a float. Lobb was satisfied that people would en- joy themselves and that everything is organized for July 20. If anyone wants to be part of the 1-5-0 parade, they can contact him at 482-3062. Since the Township was in the parade planning mood they decided to participate in parades this year throughout the area. A float committee was created in late April composed of Millie Lobb as chairperson, Marty Lobb, Hayle Wilson, Bill and Bev Chowen, Bev Vanhuys and Jane McClin- chey. They have used the float to advertise the 1-5-0 events. Their creation also was an 1 MILE EAST OF W ALTON 887-9328 Sat. til 3:00 Exciting race weekend VARNA-On June 23 the Hully Gully Motocross track will be rearranged into an ATV style track. Eight people are in- volved each time with the float, some on it and others handing out balloons and pam- phlets. They have had no problem getting people to take part. The spectators' response has been very good, according to Lobb. She said her com- mittee has had to work hard getting it ready to go on the road but they all enjoy it.
