IT EAT -.'HE
S
Here's how I discovered the meaning of the word serendipity and a.
fantastic new chocolate drink at the same time. 1 was in Cologne,
Germany, this spring, attending the world's largest biscuit and
confection trade tair and I took a break to visit the Messmer Tea
eople, hoping to find a quality blend to endorse as The President's
41/
hoice'"' Gourmet Tea. (I've been looking unsuccessfully for two
ears, and the search goes on.)
During the course of the tasting, the president of an associated
company and I got to talking and he said he had just invented a new,
chocolate drink that was taking Europe by storm. It was an
agglomerated mix that dissolves INSTANTLY with milk. He
exhorted me to "try it against Nestle's Quik (Canada's best selling
instant chocolate drink) when you get home. 1 think the results will
surprise you" On.my return, 1 gave the product to our test lab and
they conducted a consumer test with 37 panelists. THE
RESULTS? THE PANEL PREFERRED THE INSTANT -MIX
PRODUCT 5 TO 1 OVER NESTLE'S QUIK!!

GEESE LADY BEGGED MET
One morning, 1 was walking by a Ziggys deli and I
asked the lady who was setting up the cheese case
what was the current "hot" selling cheese? She
replied that everyone was in love with Cambozola, a
German blend of Brie and Blue cheeses. Her explanation was that
people are absolutely crazy about the way that Cambozola martries the
tangy taste of Blue cheese with the creamy mouth -feel of Brie. I said,
"That's great news because I'm including Cambozola Blue Cheese in my
Summer Insider's Report at 1/2 Loblaws regular price (only $13.21/kg or
$5. /Ib). She said, "Please Don't Do Id This cheese is a runaway at $28 a
ki m:' I said, "Unfortunately it's too late, the Cambozola is already on
th gh seas." And that's why you should head for your nearest deli
RIGHT NOW. If the cheese lady seems unusually flustered - be nice to her.
e Tins
o America's est
Selling or Beans
Van Camp's is the largest selling brand of pork & beans in all
of North America. Until July 13, the Insider's Report is
offering extra large tins (19 oz.) of Stokely Van Camp's
Beans with Pork for only 79 cents!! Is this value? It is when
you compare it to the up to $1.33 charged in many Toronto
supers!! For those who prefer not to eat pork, we also have
Stokely Van Camp's Beans with Tomato Sauce; also only 79
cents fora 19 -oz. tin.
Like Kidney Beans? We're offering two other fine Stokely
items; take your choice of either DARK RED KIDNEY
BEANS, or NEW ORLEANS STYLE KIDNEY BEANS.
® Each comes in a 19 -oz. tin and once again the price is onl
cents. Available: L, LS, NF, Z, SI.
The results convinced me that this had to be an Insider's Report
product. Why is it superior? Well, most important is the fact that it
contains 22% cocoa. Did you know that many chocolate drink
mixes contain 15 to 20% cocoa?
I believe that we have developed the best tasting instant chocolate
available anywhere in North America. I WENT FOR TEA, 1
CAME BACK WITH CHOCOLATE: THAT'S SERENDIPITY -
finding something of unusually high quality when you're not
looking for it.
A 750 mL canister of our new Insider's Report Instant Chocolate is
only $2.59. That's up to $1 less than what you pay in many Toronto
supers for an equivalent size of Nestle'spuik.
Available: L, LS, NF, Z, SI. .
P.S. Many families prefer a Chocolate Syrup because it has extra
uses such as a topping for ice cream. That's why we've just
introduced No Name Chocolate Syrup in a 750 mL bottle for
only $2.39. Available: L, LS, NF, Z.
OLD JOKE - NOUVELLE JOKE
OLD JOKE: " atter, waiter, there's a fly in my soup" Answer: "Keep your voice down, sir, or
everyone will want one"'
NOUVELLE JOKE: "Waiter, waiter, this isn't raspberry vinegar, it's plain vinegar." Answer: ',Keep
our voice dnwn, sir this is the last drop of plain vinegar in town"

INCREDIBLE PRICE!!
As hard as I try, I'm not sure I'II ever completely
understand all of the terminology used in the Food
Business. Take "Roasted" Peanuts, for example.
When I think of "roasted;' I think
of something that is placed in
an oven and cooked with dry
heat. According to industry
spokesmen, however,
"Roasted" Peanuts are "Deep -
Fried" in a bath of some 5,000
pounds of oil.
By contrast, Dry Roasted Pea-
nuts are coated with seasoning
and really roasted in an oven.
Our new Insider's Report
Dry Roasted Peanuts are
only $2.99 for a 700 gram
jar!! Is this a value? Just com-
pare with nationally branded
peanuts that many Toronto
drug stores sell for up to $3.58 -
and that's for a small jar (450
Agrams)!!!
